Pcr test on Wednesday, no result yet, is there anything to be done?

As above. I rang 119 yesterday and it's been passed to the results investigation team but the guy basically said (understandably), they are swamped, don't hold your breath. We are obviously isolating in the interim. Do I need the pcr result or should I just test on lateral flows a week from the date I tested positive on the first lateral flow?

You probably did but did you register your test before you did it? If you didn’t you probably won’t get the result. The registration is different from the original application. I have Covid as well. Got symptoms but kept getting negative lateral flow results. PCR home test arrived next day. Posted our tests on Wednesday and got results back early Friday morning showing I was positive. Perhaps it is an area problem. I would just continue with the lateral flow tests as it is all you can do.

Ps to above. We are 80 and 82 and heard they are interested in how the elderly are responding to Covid. Probably not a factor but did wonder about the quick response.

I think there will be many, many people in your situation. Seems to point doing another PCR as by the time you get results you would be past the 6/7 day release or the virus will be out of your system so won’t be detected. Do as you suggested isolate and test on days 6 & 7.

Op I got my results today - have you heard anything yet?

DH did test on New Year's Eve, he got the result 24 hours later.

My friend is waiting for results from test taken on 29th as well

Mine took 6 days to come back I'm in Kent, prob overwhelmed plus Xmas etc

If you assume it was positive when are days 6 and 7? Have you got lateral flow tests to get you out if isolation early (this doesn't help unvaccinated isolation for close contact tho, if that is part of the puzzle?)

Curious as my 2 year old has covid along with all of us. Is his isolation 7 day or 10? I can't find anything about it.

My father is on palliative care for end stage dementia living in a care home. There is covid in the Home but I am able to visit as his essential care giver as he is on palliative care. This can only happen if I lft daily and do a weekly pcr at the Home. Did my test on 28/12/21 and still no results back. I can't therefore visit him. I have tried 119 numerous times to chase up results but can't get through to high number of calls. My dad does not have much time left and it is distressing not being able to see him. Lft are all negative so am not expecting a positive pcr
