please help- my partner has been admitted to hospital- what do I pack for him?

Hi everyone
My partner has been taken to hospital as his covid symptoms are getting worse. I need to pack him a bag just incase - I'm so overwhelmed and scared I can't think straight. What do I need to pack for him, I don't want to miss anything out.

Pyjamas, comfy clothes like joggers and t shirts, phone and charger, toothbrush and toothpaste, shower gel, deodorant, something to read, earplugs, bottle of juice/water, snack bar

Phone charger / power bank if you have one
Change of comfy clothes (joggers/sweatshirt type stuff), PJs, pants socks
Toothbrush toothpaste deodorant
If he’s reading a book at the moment
Lip balm, hand cream (hospital air is always dry!)
Water bottle/bottled water

Charger with a long lead if he's taking phone etc

Wipes to help him feel fresh

I take a cosy blanket from the sofa at home too if you’re that kind of person

Slippers

Slip-on shoes/slippers/flip flops for ease of shuffling around when he's well enough.

Add to the above:
Note pad and pen (to write down what doctors say, or things he wants to ask them)
Squash if he drinks it
Slippers / crocs / sandals (something he can slip on his feet easily to pop to toilet)

Sorry you're in this situation, it's not fun. Here's a starter list; others may have other suggestions:

Phone and charger; label them with his name
Any other tech he'd want to use (tablet/laptop) and charger

• make sure any chargers can go into a plug socket, not just USB

Toothbrush+toothpaste
razor (if he uses it)
towel
soap/shower gel
deodourant
Any other toiletries he uses day to day

Changes of clothes and underwear - it's likely to be hot in hospital; I remember taking in shorts for DH

• plastic bag for dirty clothes

Slippers/indoor shoes

Any medication he usually takes

Put it all in a labelled bag

Hospital environments are hot and dry (at least to me as a visitor they are). If you can get hold of some eye drops for dry eyes (even if you take them in later on if he has to stay) then he might find them really beneficial. Also lip balm. Sometimes wearing socks in bed is comforting even if the ward is hot. So some socks. And if you have one, a sleep mask like they give you on planes could come in handy. If he's anything like my husband he will be appalled at being given a sleep mask but he may be very grateful for it.

I hope he feels better soon and does not need to be admitted.

I spent a long time in hospital this year order a very long phone charger lead like 3 metres so he can use his phone in bed. Extra data for his phone and a pair of earphones. Also a bottle of cordial so he has lots of drinks. A concentrate squeezy one would be great. Definitely a kindle or an extra book.

I hope he isn’t there that long and returns home quickly x

I'm trying to think of things outside of the usual pjs and toiletries.

You need to restrict the size of bag too, DH could only take one the size of a supermarket carrier bag so not very big.
I wouldn’t worry about clothes until the ward ask you to bring some in.
Definitely 2m or 3m extension lead, phone/charger, toiletries, slippers, change of pyjamas and pants to wear with hospital gown.
Medications, ear plugs, ear phones.
Boiled sweets are nice if you have a sore throat or dry mouth.
Don’t bother with towels, they’ll be provided.
A book, glasses if he wears them.

Second sending layers as hospitals are either boiling or freezing.
Short sleeve t shirt rather than long sleeves, easy access for cannula and bloods and can put something over top of chilly.

Small supply of any Regular meds or list with allergies.
Bed wear
Loungewear
Underwear
Slippers
Toothbrush and paste
Comb
Deodorant
Wipes or flannel and soap.

Juice if you have it as hospital jug water sucks.

no one has mentioned any medication he usually takes.....not all that you have but a bit in case its needed on the ward.

Fan, it can get soo hot in hospital.
