Smell and taste on and off.

Tested positive middle of December so still fairly recent and I know some people take weeks or months to get their smell and taste back. Smell is okay now. I still can't smell certain things but j can smell a lot.

But it's the taste. Some things I can really taste things, other days not so much.

I have taste issues anyway to do with salivary gland issues.

But since covid. One day I can taste fine and the next not so much. I feel like I'm taking one step forward and 2 back.

I can't really taste sweet things but savoury seems okay.

Anyone else?

I feel I’m like this. Positive start of December and taste come back, but today I feel like I’ve woke up and it’s gone again. Strange! I’m hoping it just goes back to normal within a couple of days ans stays that way! X

I tested positive at the start of December and I'm exactly the same. Some days I feel like my taste is a good 80% back yet other days I can barely taste anything

Thank you both. I'm just so frustrated. I just want to enjoy all good again 😅 we went out for food last night and couldn't taste it. Felt like it was a waste 😅

I'm the same too, I'm relieved others are having the same issue.

Mine has been like this since early October 😫 some days, pretty much full smell & taste and other days it’s very dull again. How strong my smell is that day is completely linked to how strong my taste is! If I can’t smell a certain food, I def won’t be able to really taste it either. I’ve weirdly completely lost my ability to smell or taste garlic. It’s never come back. I’m pretty gutted, I love garlic 😭

That totally sucks! I was concerned that I will be affected long term too. As I already have sinus and salivary gland issues that affect my taste senses. I lose my smell and taste with an average cold but this is mad!

For me it's weird now I can smell a lot of things and not others. Despite having a usually crap sense of taste, my sense of smell is usually pretty good.

I've got the same. Was so excited to be able to finally taste my smokey bacon crisps the other day. I had some with lunch today and was looking forward to them but couldn't taste them
properly again Sad. My smell and taste have been completely random. On my 'bad' days I can taste salt, sweet and sour but not the actual flavour. For example today my orange tasted of sweet then sour but couldn't detect any fruity orange flavour and the crisps tasted of salt even though I could smell the bacon flavouring.

@FruitToast frustrating isn't it. For me the taste is strange. Quite often when I first bite into something I can get a good taste but when I start chewing it goes like my taste switches off. Bizarre!

It's a relief to read this because I lost smell and some taste last week whilst awaiting outcome of a known exposure - but PCR negative. Had Covid early October and taste returned slowly. I'd assumed recovery was a one way street. Clearly not.
