Tested positive on the 12/12. Not sure if omicron. It was very much like a cold. Very mild. Everyone in the house had it.

The week or so before I got covid I actually had a really bad cough which I tested negative for 3 times (pcr tests). It was a non covid virus I caught off dc at the time. We've all since had covid with barely any coughing!

By the time I tested positive my cough had pretty much gone, covid didn't make it worse. Covid did not cause a cough for me it was just lingering from the previous virus. So I had two viruses back to back.

Anyway, today just over a week after leaving isolation my throat feels dry and tickly. Not uncommon for me to get a dried out throat this time of year but it's making me want to cough.

What the hell do I do?

You can get syrups and lozenges for dry cough but they’re just literally syrup so will only ease it.
The only thing that will actually stop it is codeine. I don’t think you can buy it in the uk anymore for this purpose but you could take some cocodamol if you really had problems sleeping for instance.

I find pholcodeine linctus is really good, much better than the expensive cough medicines.

I had this- a week after finishing isolation (am not having problems with coughing or throat) I then developed a really dry uncomfortable throat, which hung around for two weeks. It is easing off now, but I am guessing it was a post viral symptom…not sure!
