For anyone who has had covid recently, would you be so kind as to share details of how it progressed?
So if it was initially symptomless or mild - did it remain so?

For me - within the space of 24h I developed a really horrible headache and fever, tested positive on lat flow immediately. Cough started on day 2 as did the taste changes. Was very hard and fast for me.

For DH - slower progression of feeling tired and stomach upset, chills set in after about day 3 but short lived. He tested negative on lat flow for the first 2 days.

For Ds(8) - tested positive on lat flow today, no symptoms at all.

Dh felt off for 2 days then fever, cough, head cold. Positive immediately on lft. I tested positive yesterday on lft. Faint but still a positive. I feel a bit tired, slightly scratchy throat and tight chest but other than that am fine so far. Really want to blitz house so hopefully will stay that way!

Redhead37 · 30/12/2021 18:35

I felt tired for a couple of days ( but this is usual as currently having treatment for cancer) then last night headache, coldy, tested and very strong lines on lateral flow. But kids tested negative, but awaiting delivery of 3 pcrs as they have been coughing all day... praying it doesn't get too much worse!!!

Felt a bit under the weather, scratchy throat and tired on day 1 and just a bit 'off'. Days 2-4 had raging sore throat, it was horrible, and mild cold symptoms - bit of a runny nose etc but nothing dramatic other than the sore throat. Day 5 on the mend. Negative lateral flows throughout and partner/DCs didn't get it despite living in the same house.

Just at the tail end of it, I started the night before Xmas Eve with an annoying tickle in throat that I had to cough to clear, last couple days have noticed I'm more snotty, like a cold. Got positive lateral early hours Christmas day. Overall have been fine though. My dp has had a worse case and coughed more then me, was exhausted in the first few days, and teenage dd also had a prolonged cough that's kept her awake at night. 11 ds had no symptoms other than maybe being grouchy, 7 year old ds displayed no symptoms at all and only one who's had negative tests. Me and dp are double jabbed, dc not at all.

2 adult DC have had it in the last 3 weeks....both started with a bad headache and then both felt hot/shivery (although not sure they actually had a temp) Both felt 'ill' enough to do an LFT within a few hours of symptoms starting (which they shouldn't have, but they then did PCRs after the LFTs were v v positive).

My husbands started with a very bad head ache and aching all over. He was pretty much back to normal after 3 days. Me on the other hand started getting symptoms Monday and still feel bad. Started with headache, then aching, sore throat, cough, last night I was freezing but sweating so hopefully that was the worst over with. Headache has improved, still coughing and I feel worn out and struggling to keep my eyes open for long periods of time. It’s like having a bad cold maybe flu for me. Our 3 girls had headaches and a cough, slept loads for 24 hours and then they were back to normal although maybe eating less than before.

My DC felt off and had a tickley throat last Monday, negative LFT. 3 days later on Thursday last week she still felt bad so we did LFT as family were due round. She got a positive. The day after on Christmas Eve (so 4 days after symptoms first started) she felt dreadful - like a very heavy cold. Boxing Day she turned a corner and started to improve. Today (so 10 days after symptoms first started) she is still not 100% but pretty much back to normal.

My other DC completely symptomless.

greenweepingwillow · 30/12/2021 21:12

started with scratchy thorat xmas eve evening. ltf positive (day 0)
Christmas day (day1)- had headache and sinus pain, quite bunged up, slight tickly cough but generally didnt feel too bad. had pcr
Boxing day (day 2) - pcr result back positive.more of the same, sinus pain worse in the morning, nose very bloacked. sore throat.no cough. Strted to feel bit worse as day progressed. Lost smell and taste in the evening
Monday (day 3) - felt quite rubbish. Achey, shivery, exhausted. Nausea, stomach ache and no apetite. didn't eat all day.Sinus pain and cold symptoms almost gone though.Totally exhausted. Really bad nights sleep Monday night, very odd dreams , hot and sweaty, felt extremely odd - sort of out of it!
Tuesday (day 4)- still felt rubbish. no energy. very tearful spent most of day in bed. No cough. pains in hips and back. still no apetite and nausea. ate a little bit.Much better nights sleep though
Weds (day 5)still exhausted. Less achey. Still nausea and no apetite. still no taste or smell, possibly not feeling quite as bad
Thursday (day 6)- finally definite slight improvement. managed to eat some toast for breakfast. gradual slight return of smell and taste through the day. Ate a small meal at dinner time. Feeling much brighter by the evening Grin (lft still strong positive though)

oldtableleg · 30/12/2021 21:23

sore throat, LFT-ve - day 0
sore throat, LFT+ve - day 1
sneezing, running nose, watery eyes, bit of tinnitus - day 3-5
blocked nose only LFT +ve - day 6
no symptoms LFT-ve - day 7 (& day 8 - test to release)

I got a normal cold ten days later & felt worse tbh. Day three was probably when I felt most ill, I could carry on completely as normal though (wfh with paracetamol!). Didn't bother with household isolation - dh had a a couple of weeks earlier & none of the kids got it either time.

Autumnalblooms · 30/12/2021 21:42

I have just come out of isolation. Mine started with feeling cold and goosebumps on my arms .I then started with a scratchy sore throat. The shivers then started by which which point had started to feel ill so I did a pcr which came back positive even though all lft had shown neg until day after pcr test .It then went into awful lower back pain and joint pain and fatigue.Back at work this weekend .Rest family still at various stages and all had similar symtoms but also headache and high temp

Autumnalblooms · 30/12/2021 21:46

Oh and I forgot to say runny nose and total loss of appetite. Still not got it back can only eat small amounts it's just totally put me off food 🤷‍♀️.

LethargeMarg · 30/12/2021 22:00

I tested positive Tuesday so only a few days in
My first symptoms were a sore throat on Monday (negative lateral flow) felt a bit weird and achey by the evening (no classic symptoms , had been a close contact on 22nd so was regular testing and looking for symptoms )
Cough started early Tuesday and faint positive ltf confirmed with pcr
Since then really sore throat and awful cough
Sneezing and 'heady' comes in waves at moment feel ok felt rough an hour ago
Dh has felt nauseous with it
It's not that bad though and I'm able to get on with the day not stuck in bed
Nights are a bit worse as can't sleep well due to coughing
Still have appetite and have been having the odd glass of wine which I definitely wouldn't usually do if unwell
It's the thought of it going on for days I'm finding is the worst thing - that it could be another seven days of feeling a bit shit rather than with something like tonsillitis I'd be in bed for two or three days but then back to normal .
