Does anyone know anyone boostered who has been admitted to hospital with Covid?

My mum, late 50s, is on day 8 and is struggling with her chest. I'm starting to get worried. She's double vaccinated and boostered, I don't know if this is normal or whether she's heading down the pneumonia route.

Do you have a pulse oximeter? I was quite breathless recently (not Covid) and it was useful to see that it wasn’t having any real impact on my blood oxygen.

jaychops · 30/12/2021 12:50

I do, but she doesn't and I have Covid too so unfortunately can't travel to give it to her. I'm going to try to get someone to pass it on.

You can get one on Amazon for about £15 I think and delivered the next day with prime if you have it?
I am on day 7, double and booster and still feel so tired. Think plenty of rest is what is needed.

HenryHiggins · 30/12/2021 12:54

She needs to call 111 and probably be seen. I hope she’s feeling better soon x

Windywuss · 30/12/2021 12:56

My mum's friend is currently in hospital. She's older but boosted, yes. Has been very unlucky. Apparently it's not Omicron but original variant.

@HenryHiggins I've tried to tell her this but she's stubborn!

Thanks for the replies

That's scarey but you just don't know if you might be one of the unlucky ones. We can't just lock ourselves away forever. I hope your friend recovers soon @Furrybutts
jaychops · 30/12/2021 15:30

Oh gosh @Furrybutts I'm so sorry to hear this. Hope a full recovery is made soon.

Thank you Jaychops and windywuss
Unfortunately it's not looking good for her.

You are right though, we just never know,.it could be any one of us.
Thankfully those vaccinated who get seriously ill are few.

rrhuth · 31/12/2021 07:22

Your mum should be checked sooner rather than later. She needs to speak to the GP at least.

I hope she gets well soon Flowers

We can't just lock ourselves away forever annoying and quite rude that people can't talk about a sick relative without the anti lockdown agenda getting pushed.

WoodenReindeer · 31/12/2021 07:27

Gosh furrybutts your poor friend. That must be so scary. My dr (similar age and cv) kept telling me my age went in my favour. I hope she recovers soon.

OP get help sooner rather than later. I was told if my O2 dropped I'd be admitted due to cv. This was a while back though but theres lots they can try.

countrygirl99 · 31/12/2021 07:31

My dad, but covid isn't why he was admitted.

I did not mean my comment in the way you took it.

I was saying that it's awful that this thing is so random. That we can do our best to protect ourselves and others and still some poor unlucky people will end up in hospital, like my mum's friend. I'm not way anti Vax or anti lockdown but I do think the fear and anxiety of covid causes real harm too. Some people will be the unfortunate small minority who are not protected by the Vaccines. I'm saying it is hard to accept that and get on with living but what choice do we have?
