12 year old unwell - I'm stressed!

My 12 year old son has Crohn's and is on immunosuppressants. He tested positive on LFT yesterday and PCR today - we were sent a priority PCR test to keep in case he developed symptoms. He is quite unwell with it, fever and vomiting has been 24 hours now, he is unable to keep anything down at all. He's sleeping all the time and very upset. I'm so worried about him and worried he's going to get worse. I've called the GP and will get a call back today to find out when and if I should be worried. I'm hoping to get a call from CMDU to assess whether he can have the anti viral drugs, that is suppose to be within 24 hours of the positive PCR. I'm on my own with him and I'm scared :(

Have you tried ringing his usual hospital consultant?

Some of the highly immune suppressed have 24/7 contact arrangements to the main hospital team to ensure right interventions with any infection.

Or www.crohnsandcolitis.org.uk which has a helpline

Flowers it's a worrying time. But when they say patients need to start either the MABS or the advanced retrovirals straight away, they mean within first 5 days, so you do still have time

Hi sorry to hear he is so unwell. I got the email about treatment at home and it says you can call 111 to chase if you don’t hear from them. Might be worth a try? I did hear after my pcr but it was close to 24 hours after my test result. How long has it been?

Thank you for replying x I've emailed his IBD nurse and she just said to take him to A&E if I'm worried. I have just received an email and text to say I will be contacted within 24 hours but to call GP if I've not heard. I received the result at 9am this morning so there is still time. GP will be calling today too so will mention it to them. My son is currently eating plain biscuits and I'm keeping everything crossed that he keeps it down! X

Can you phone your local A&E and see if they can help?

My immediate thought is not to treat the fever as it is an immune response and if his immune system is suppressed anyway then I wouldn't be interfering with any attempt by it to mount a defence but I'm not an expert and I have no idea if this is the correct course of action.

I really think you need advice from a doctor as our guess is as good as yours. Keep pestering. Make them sick of the sound of your voice.
