Am I a household contact?

Was visiting my mum over Christmas. Me and dp arrived on Christmas Eve and my mums partners daughter tested positive on lateral flow on Christmas morning (25th). She then went home to her mums around 11am on Christmas morning after we had opened presents in the same room for around 45 minutes.

She has since tested positive on pcr and we have all tested negative on pcr on 28th (results today) and daily negative lateral flows.

Basically I cannot find an answer anywhere whether we would be classed as household contacts or close contacts. If we are household contacts then we would be in isolation until the 3rd Jan. If we are close contacts then we can go back to normal since receiving the negative pcr. We are in Scotland so rules are different here.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

PCR was too early to be conclusive.

Household contact...

  • have spent 8 hours or more in the home of the person who has tested positive during their infectious period – for example a sleepover
