Anyone had omicron in household & others not caught it ?

Pheonixblue1 · 28/12/2021 20:20

Husband tested positive yesterday for omicron pcr - immune is negative and 2 x negative ltf.
We are sleeping in different beds but live in small apartment - is there any chance I won’t catch it ?

OP posts:

My friends OH caught it and she didn’t and they didn’t isolate from each other so I’d say you have a chance OP!

I tried to find stats on this for her and found a stat for 18% household transmission- which seems seriously low and I couldn’t swear on the reliability of the data but it was the best (only) thing I could find about this time last week!

NavyNails2 · 28/12/2021 20:29

My DH had it a couple of weeks ago and me and the kids didn't catch it. No isolation within the house.

CoffeeWithCheese · 28/12/2021 20:30

Both kids had it the other week, and I'm not going to make them isolate in their rooms - they had cuddles and mucking about as a family as normal.

Me and DH fine.

Cookerhood · 28/12/2021 20:31

Do you know for sure it was omicron? We weren't told & I thought they weren't telling you any more.
We've had Covid in the house this week but the one infected person didn't pass it on to the rest of us (all boosted).

Blinkinname · 28/12/2021 20:36

Complete chance! I got it, DP didn't. Slept in separate beds, avoided each other but still in a small home so our paths crossed plenty! Now he's been in close contact with three relatives over four days let's see if he caught it from them! And if I get it again from him...

tinseleverywhere2021 · 28/12/2021 20:37

Yes, 1 omicron, 4 didn't get it.

Estara · 28/12/2021 20:40

I tested postive for covid but nowhere states what varient. Intruiged to know how you find out which type.

Cherrypie32 · 28/12/2021 20:54

How do you know you’ve got Omicron? I got PCR tests today and it didn’t specify anything. And what does ‘immune negative’ mean. Just interested as someone currently isolating.

Tilly28 · 28/12/2021 20:56

5/6 of us got it over the last 3 weeks in our house. 4 DC none vaccinated due to age. I have 2 vaccines but was due booster the day I got a positive LFT. My husband has had the booster, he was the only one who didn't get it.

MonsterChopz · 28/12/2021 20:56

My husband tested positive on the Sunday, then the two kids on the Tuesday. We continued as normal - no isolating within the house and I didn't catch it. We continued sharing same room /bed and the kids were climbing all over me.

4intheCorner · 28/12/2021 21:10

DH currently on day 3, don't know if omicron or not. He tested negative on day 1, we didn't isolate from each other. Positive day 2 and have isolated since then. Negative LFT for me, but I can now feel a tickle in my throat. DC currently symptomless

LittleBabyCheeses · 28/12/2021 21:12

Yes, 2 of us caught it and 3 didn’t. No isolating from each other, we don’t have the space.

Byron1986 · 28/12/2021 21:28

I tested positive on a lateral flow on Christmas Eve (confirmed by a PCR on Boxing Day), after having a mild sore throat since 21st. So far DH (3 jabs) and two DC (unvaccinated) have escaped it. I have not isolated from them, share same bed/bathrooms etc. Hope it stays that way as I am due to be induced next week!

NotSonicTheHedgehog · 28/12/2021 22:00

My DD caught it and hasn’t isolated from my DM and she’s not caught it yet.

katand2kits · 29/12/2021 08:01

I'm on day 10 of self isolation. Husband did the 7 days of tests he was required to do, all were negative and he has no symptoms. Only one of the two children tested positive.

MarshmallowFondant · 29/12/2021 08:04

Teenage DD had it week before Christmas. I was definitely not isolating from her before she got her positive test, I drove her to and from the testing centre.

None of the rest of us caught it, we all had PCR tests.

We are just assuming it was omicron though, we were never told. But the symptoms of headache, sore throat and no cough indicate it probably was. She was ill for 24 hours and then loads better.

Useruseruserusee · 29/12/2021 08:09

Yes, I had it just before Christmas and didn’t pass it on to my DH or DC. Our youngest DC is vulnerable (has had surgery on his respiratory system) so I isolated away from everyone else in a separate room until day 6, when I got a negative LFT result.

Dozer · 29/12/2021 08:09

DC1 and I tested positive in Nov, DC1 was mildly unwell and I (after 2 doses of vaccine) had a couple of headaches. DC1 then had the covid vaccine at school.

DC2 and DH were both poorly before xmas. DC1 and I testing negative 12 days on.

Bigfathairyones · 29/12/2021 08:12

DS left for Uni yesterday, no-one else got it (daily LFTs but we were also v careful) DD had it at different Uni just before Xmas and he BF didn't get it....miraculous according to DD!

Bigfathairyones · 29/12/2021 08:12

Sorry, meant to say that DS had it and sat in car with DH for 4 hours when at most infectious (no choice)

Sallycinnamum · 29/12/2021 08:35

DD tested positive along with most of her yr 5 class and neither DH, myself or DS caught it from her.

I don't know what variant it was but we live in an omicron hotpot and the way it ripped through her school at such a pace suggests it was omicron.

Anecdotally many of her classmates family members didn't catch it either.

Lndnmummy · 29/12/2021 08:48

3/4 in this family have it. Not the little one. Could be becuase he got it first and had no symptoms. No idea of its Omicron or not though. I think it is becuase of our symptoms but I don't know.

greenweepingwillow · 29/12/2021 08:58

my ds (13) tested positive on 20th. I developed symptoms with positive lft on 24th and positive pcr on 25th.
There are 8 of us in the house all together and so far eveyone else remains negative lft and no symptoms.
We havent especially isolated from the others, spent Christmas day together etc...
I am now wondering if it is omicron as I had assumed as I would have expected more of us to get it if it was?

Soubriquet · 29/12/2021 09:05

4 out of 5 caught it here. Dd was the only one who didn’t

Chocolateteabag · 29/12/2021 09:05

I had symptoms on the 17th, positive lft 18th confirmed by a PCR - felt awful for 3-4 days with symptoms of Omicron (headache, shivery, sneezy)
DH and DC had no symptoms and negative LFTs the whole time
