Delayed day 2 post travel results, developed symptoms

What happens if you didn’t get your Day 2 PCR results on time after coming back to the UK (a long unexplained delay of several days from the provider) and develop symptoms post travel within the first 10 days? It’s known that one can’t use NHS tests post travel but at the same time, you can’t book another private travel test provider if you have symptoms (they are for asymptomatic people). The person is triple vaccinated. Thank you.

Have they now received the travel test, can they not use that?

If you get symptoms I'd do a normal PCR

@LIZS
They have posted the test on the day of arrival but the results are yet to come back (turned out to be bad unreliable provider). It was supposed to be a short quarantine, turned into a week long one due to no results. Gov U.K. states that you have to stay at home for the full 10 days if you didn’t get the negative results from your provider. Now the person developed symptoms and it’s obviously too late to use another “day 2” provider. Do they have to wait until 10 days post travel are over to use the nhs test? It makes no sense because they obviously want to know their covid status.

Use an nhs test if they have symptoms

Go for an NHS PCR

I’m sure if they’ve got symptoms presumably caught from someone in household as they’ve not been going out, then they can get an NHS PCR test booked. If the test comes back positive, then the 10 days isolation will start from the day symptoms started, unless the private PCR test comes back as positive, then the 10 days can start from that date. Has the person chased the results.

@Mindymomo
That makes sense. Yes, they have tried to chase the results, but the company is not engaging much. Unexpected delayed due to high demand, terms and conditions tricky too.
