Is anyone being stricter than the official advice?

My DH has tested positive on PCR and will be self-isolating with his last day of isolation the 6th January (unless he gets negative LFTs on the 2nd and 3rd) as per the current advice for England. However, he also wants to keep the kids off school for two days next week even though the advice says they don't need to self-isolate unless they have symptoms. Is anyone else going beyond the official advice and self-isolating when they don't legally have to?

DH tested positive on a lateral flow on Monday morning. We all had PCR tests that day and are still awaiting the results. DH and DD are both poorly but DS and I seem to be ok. We are all staying in, although I’m going a bit crazy and wondering about taking DS out for a walk today. If our PCR tests come back negative I think I will, but we wouldn’t mix with anyone.

All four kids are now positive for Covid on PCR. I'm the only one in the family who had escaped it. Oh well - no school for any of them next week after all.
