Your coronavirus PCR "or other lab test result" is negative.

What is this "other lab result"?
I went for a PCR yesterday and to be honest I was surprised to have my result back in under 24 hours given the mass of tests they must process at the moment.

Are they doing a lateral flow and if it is positive, they run a PCR?

I need to check in older emails if it always said "other lab result".

I think it's just a regular PCR

Not all labs use PCR, some use a similar technique called nucleic acid amplification with probe detection. Just depends which machines the lab has.

They do blood antibody tests. Maybe they send the same text for both now.

Not every lab uses a PCR method so it's always been slightly misleading. It just means your laboratory tested sample is negative.

Thanks, Ladies!
I was just worried they do a lateral flow and then send me the text... Because my lateral flows done at home are all negative, but I feel like 💩 with a temperature and full blown cold. My son had a contact in Nursery 13 days ago and he had similar symptoms (LFTs negative, couldn't book a PCR for him as there was none available in the area).

It’s just standard wording. Don’t give it another thought.
