No flu jab and covid symptoms

I can't seem to find a clear answer online, perhaps there isn't one..

But my 2 children (2 and a half and just 4) haven't had their flu jab yet, planned for January.

Now my 4 year old is showing signs of covid (my partner's just had it and I'm showing positive last 2 days).

Does not having had the flu jab make them more vulnerable to covid? 4 year old seems mostly ok just coughing and off her food but paranoid it could escalate if her immune system is down with no flu jab.

Or are they literally nothing to do with one another? Please no nasty answers, perhaps this is a dumb question I realise. Thanks

Flu jab does not protect from Covid.
Hope they feel better soon x

They are different, so a vaccination for one won't protect from the other.
The vaccines are very specific to a particular type of virus.
Hope this helps.

There’s been no evidence that by not having the flu vaccine it makes getting covid more severe. The reasoning for having the flu jab is to prevent flu symptoms needing hospitalisation, so particularly helpful at the moment when hospitals are busy with covid patients.
