dd positive lateral flow day 6 ☹️

Wondering how common this will be
Day 6 for dd (although pcr was positive 6 days ago then symptoms only started the next day)
and we were surprised and disappointed it was still positive.
Had kind of assumed it would be ok as other dd who was one day ahead was fine on her day 6 and 7 yesterday and today.

So sorry to hear that. My DD (had it in Oct) was positive on bloody day 12. My other DD has just tested positive today, it's such a PITA. I think this will be relatively common tbh.

Choccymumma · 27/12/2021 21:49

My DD is on day 8 and still testing positive on a LF. Am I right in thinking by day 10 you stop testing anyway and are allowed out of isolation?

shivermetimbers77 · 27/12/2021 21:54

My ds was positive day 6, but negative day 7. I’m going to test again tomorrow and if he’s still negative, let him go to the park at last.

I thought this too. I didn’t bother testing DS with LFTs after positive PCR. After the ten days was up he no longer had a fever and test and trace confirmed it was ok to end the isolation
NeedAHoliday2021 · 27/12/2021 21:59

Dd1 was negative on day 5 but dd3 was most unwell of us all and still positive on day 7.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 27/12/2021 22:09

Dd is still a strong positive on day 7.

If there are no symptoms at that point, yes. If symptomatic, no.
ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 28/12/2021 18:22

Dd is now a fainter positive on day 8.

Tippexy · 28/12/2021 21:08

Are you absolutely sure that today is day 6, and not day 5? From your description, today is only Day 5.

ChristmasMouseInHouse · 28/12/2021 21:11

I was still lateral flow positive until day 12 too.

Yes this is correct. The only symptom (I think) that keeps you in isolation for longer than 10 days is a fever. If you still have a cough then that’s ok. Test and trace usually call at the end of isolation anyway so I guess they will confirm and in daily sure they are not extending isolation beyond 10 days if people are still lat flow positive at that point
LizzieSiddal · 28/12/2021 21:17

My DD’s partner still had a positive test on day 10. He’s in London so probably had the omicron variant. He only had very mild symptoms, with a slight temp for one evening, and a slight cold for 36 hours.

User2638483 · 28/12/2021 23:38

Well she tested negative today, so that’s good. Assuming all is ok tomorrow morning then she will be able to go out tomorrow which I think is 8 days post positive pcr test and 7 days since noticeable symptoms (only had pcr due to sister being positive).

I’m not sure but j wonder if we have all had delta. One person who was a contact of one daughter said they were told it was delta rather than omicron by test and trace, but t & t told me they weren’t given that information

And mine has been more than a mild cold, more like a very bad one, but at least fairly short lived. Although overall more symptomatic than I expected given I had booster 2 months ago.

8 days post positive PCR test is only Day 7 of isolation.

When I say 8 days post pcr I’m counting 1 as the day after the test…

Yes
Whatdoyawannado · 29/12/2021 20:35

My DH was still testing positive until day 16.....

KCee30 · 29/12/2021 21:26

The new isolation rules came in when Dd was on day 8 of isolation. I did an lft on her hoping it would be negative and the next day so she could go out on day 9 before Christmas. But she still had a strong line. It won't work for everyone. Can't do much about it. I know someone who had covid and was pretty much asymptomatic. She got a line on lft for weeks afterwards!
