Secondary infection after covid

backonceagain79 · 27/12/2021 20:40

Recently recovered from covid, although I had mild symptoms - cough, fatigue, muscle aches, since then I have an aching chest with mild chest pain, hurts when I move or cough, similar to when I had a chest infection. I tested positive 13 days ago and negative on LFT after 6 days. I'm wondering if I could still be recovering from covid or whether I could have developed a chest infection. I would call Gp but as it's bank holiday they are not open and feel like calling 111 would be a bit extreme

Might be a bit late, but I had covid a couple of weeks ago. Felt better for 2 days and then came down with tonsillitis. Had to call 111 for an out of hours appointment and now have antibiotics and thankfully am starting to feel better. Definitely give your GP a call. As I understand it, covid can trigger a bacterial infection. Hope you feel better soon x

How are you feeling now? I tested positive a month ago and had a secondary chest infection at the same time. Over the last few weeks have felt OK but yesterday started going downhill again. I have heavy chest and pleurisy according to the doc.

I’m having these symptoms too currently. Just got over covid. Not sure at what point to cal the dr as they are so busy.

I ended up calling the Gp as I didn't feel like I was getting better, in fact I was getting worse. Gp didn't see me but prescribed antibiotics and I've only started taking them today so I'm hoping they start to kick in soon. My bones are aching so much and my chest feels tight and I constantly feel sick. It's definitely worth calling Gp

@LambLamb are you feeling any better. I wondered about pleurisy after googling (I know I shouldn't have googled). Did they prescribe you anything

@backonceagain79 seems like a chestinfection .I would call my Gp or 111 for advise.

Hi. The last couple of days I have improved. I had a chest infection develop around day 8 of covid and had antibiotics, 2 sets so they could really hit it. They helped massively but I think the pleurisy was just an after effect. Nothing prescribed except rest. I do hope you feel better soon. The anxiety surrounding this is awful I found.

@LambLamb that's good to hear that you have improved. I'm still feeling pretty rough and hoping the antibiotics kick in soon. I agree, this has really triggered my health anxiety. I can't sleep at night and keep thinking Gp has missed something Sad
