Would you hold off the second vaccine until you’re well?

I’ve seen a few people here and there that have delayed their second jab due to be ill, feeling under the weather ect. Is this advised?
We were going to nip to the walk in centre
Tomorrow to get our second doses but I’m feeling pretty rubbish at the minute with an oncoming sinus infection and dodgy stomach no doubt from all the junk and cheese and hot chocolate the last few days.
I’m pregnant so I know my immune system is lower anyway, but I’m not sure if that’s more reason to get the second jab despite feeling rubbish.. or to go and get it ASAP no matter how I feel and deal with the possibility of feeling even more rubbish in a few days?

Also don’t want to further my aching head into New Year’s Eve as that’s DD’s 2nd Bkeyhdah and the first we’ll be able to go out and celebrate properly provided restrictions don’t tighten.

To vax or not to vax(for another week or so)?

Bkeyhdah = birthday and no idea why my phone would think I meant whatever that means over the word ‘birthday’ 🙃

I guess you have to weigh up the risks. If you're getting the Pfizer then you may have side effects after that you wouldn't want to deal with on top of everything else. Also, with other vaccines it's advised to be well when getting them.

However, if there's Covid in your area then getting it asap might be best.

Thanks @TealSapphire interesting to hear other vaccines advise being well. I was fine after my first vaccine but many people say their fine after one and poorly from the other which always plays a part in me wanting to delay I suppose!

I think I will, at least until after DD’s birthday next week; I live fairly rurally and covid isn’t so rampant here, it’s around but not the kind of around like London are seeing fortunately! It is Pfizer that we get, I don’t mind getting the flu-like symptoms people say about.. I just don’t want them yet while we’ve got plans! Grin

Good plan Smile I got my second on a whim - advice changed to three weeks after first rather than six - and I felt rubbish for 48 hours afterwards. Fortunately (unfortunately?!) it was a long weekend so could just chill at home.

My booster will be carefully timed lol.

alexdgr8 · 27/12/2021 03:33

have you considered that you might be suffering from covid.
i was just about to have my 2nd jab in october when i developed a heavy cold. was a bit annoyed, but followed the advice on nhs website re vaccination and delayed having 2nd jab ntil 28 days after first symptoms.

Take a lft

Chisandbiscuits · 27/12/2021 03:39

I didn't get any real side effects (other than a sore arm with the first one) for my two Pfizer jabs. My booster was Moderna and I had been ill in the week leading up to it but I decided the risk of Covid on my pre-existing conditions was more serious than any side-effects from the booster so I had that even though I wasn't feeling that great. As it happens I never had any side effects from the booster either other than a sore arm for a day. I'd say it depends on your personal circumstances and what you're more afraid of really. Everyone seems to have a different reaction to the injections.

Newuser82 · 27/12/2021 07:15

No, I don’t think you should go until you are well.

SpiderFluff · 27/12/2021 07:24

I would. The side effects were horrendous.

PositivelyFooked · 27/12/2021 09:16

@alexdgr8 DP also suggested taking a test as I’ve been breathless after doing the smallest of tasks.. but I think it’s just pregnancy related. I’ve always suffered re-occurring sinus infections this time of year but perhaps I’ll do a LFT this morning just in case! Hopefully it’s not covid 😖
