I’ve got a sore throat, runny nose, tired, sneezing a little I feel ill, but not absolutely dreadful. If covid didn’t exist I’d say it’s just a cold. The symptoms for a pcr are high temperature, cough and loss of smell none of which I have so do you think I’m right in just monitoring my temperature and not testing. I spent Christmas Day with an elderly relative, but will stay away from now on. We’ve all been boosted.

@Ridingthegravytrain

Wow. It’s almost as if someone must be getting very rich off all these tests.
Or certain government advisors with shares in big pharmaceuticals getting rich off these boosters!!!!!!

PCR ASAP!
I have covid. I had no cough, temperature or problems with taste or smell.
I have dry throat, runny blocked nose and lots of sneezing. Covid confirmed by LFT and PCR.

Is your see op's posts not working, she's aleady done a test and had a positive result Grin
Parrotsandpussies · 29/12/2021 12:07

I had cold symptoms. Negative LFD. Did a PCR and it came back positive. My symptoms got worse. I'm on Day 16 and still not feeling great. That's why we need to keep testing, and isolating. Because a cold has never made me feel like this before! I'm not vulnerable, am normally fit and work through any illness, double jabbed, and only not boostered because it was booked for when I was ill.

Dogfacepacer · 29/12/2021 12:43

I did 2 LFTs after a big sneezing fit and a headache and they were both negative. I was positive on a PCR which I did because I felt just “odd” somehow.

My mother, who was here all over Christmas, has the same symptoms and has also had 2 neg LFTs but won’t go for a PCR because it might be positive and she’s “not that ill and they need me in work.” She’s in retail, customer facing. Hmm
@WhatsitWiggle Your graphic is out of date. I've attached the current one, which suggests people with cold symptoms should be tested.
Where's this from please? Is it Government advice?

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 29/12/2021 19:39

Everyone right now with a cold probably had covid

jaychops · 29/12/2021 22:37

I'm Covid positive and feel exactly like I have a cold

Benjispruce5 · 29/12/2021 23:11

DH started sneezing tonight out of the blue, LFT x2 positive. Sad

SNUG2022 · 30/12/2021 03:18

My horrendous cold has come back negative on pcr. It was negative on lft too.

WaltzingTilda · 30/12/2021 03:39

I am really confused now. My dd has a temperature and we've got a pcr test done, and are still awaiting the results. When we booked it only asked if we had the three main symptoms i.e. temp/new cough/loss of smell, and not a long list of cold symptoms etc? Is it now actual government guidance to test when someone has cold symptoms? If yes, please can someone post the link?

SNUG2022 · 30/12/2021 04:15

No it is not government guidance, but the symptoms have been out of date for long time. I understand as it would be a nightmare to OK people to test for cold symptoms, however if you look at the zoe Kings college study you will see the top symptoms are cold symptoms.

WaltzingTilda · 30/12/2021 04:42

Perhaps the symptoms do need updating and I appreciate that there are other symptoms than the main three. But the fact remains that the current government advice is to test if you have one or more of the three main symptoms and not other cold symptoms? so if one has a sore throat or a headache and none of the three main symptoms they'll be lying to get a pcr test, albeit for the greater good?

SNUG2022 · 30/12/2021 04:45

Yes, but there are other legitimate boxes to tick to get a test, such as participant in zoe study, close contact etc. Plus my cold has come with a cough.

WaltzingTilda · 30/12/2021 04:51

Fair enough if one has other legitimate boxes to tick to get a pcr test! I just saw a long list of cold symptoms on this thread and thought people( who don't have other legitimate boxes to tick to get a test ) are now getting pcr tests done for a sore throat or a headache!

Benjispruce5 · 30/12/2021 09:10

@WaltzingTilda yes DH has lied to get a PCR as he has had two positive LFTs and has cold symptoms. The Zoe Covid study states cold symptoms as the most prevalent for triple jabbed people.

dementedpixie · 30/12/2021 09:12

You dont need to lie if he had positive LFTs. There is an option for confirming a positive LFT as we ticked it for dh

WaltzingTilda · 30/12/2021 09:18

I am pretty sure I didn't see an option for positive LFTs when I booked on the gov.uk site. I could be wrong though.

Allthepickles · 30/12/2021 09:20

I’m on day 3 of worsening cold symptoms. Cough, runny nose, sneezing, absolutely exhausted, daily LFT all negative. Zoe app has asked me to be tested by PCR so will do that today.

dementedpixie · 30/12/2021 09:23

This is what we ticked
I have cold symptoms but no temperature or cough, lft negative should I pcr?

HappyGreen · 30/12/2021 09:25

Everyone I know that's tested postive on pcr in the last 2 weeks have all tested negative on lft! They seem totally pointless.

WaltzingTilda · 30/12/2021 09:27

Ahh, thank you so much for that. I obviously didn't read that part very well, as it didn't apply to us and hasn't before, thankfully. Good to know that there's such an option.

dementedpixie · 30/12/2021 09:27

My dh got a positive LFT yesterday and is going for his PCR today

Benjispruce5 · 30/12/2021 09:36

Maybe he didn’t lie this time but I have in the past when that option wasn’t there. The gov symptoms are inadequate and are causing this spread. I know people who probably have it and are using the lack of classic symptoms as a reason not to test and carry on with their lives.

Allthepickles · 01/01/2022 13:46

Looks like my LFT were correct as PCR also negative. It’s been an awful bug I’ve had though, all the cold symptoms but it felt much more than a cold I’m used to, seem to be on the mend now thankfully!
