And yes I know it’s probably 100th thread on this but I’m feeling Boxing Day lazy so I’m starting another.

I’m meant to be driving from Bristol to Newcastle in a couple of days to visit DP family and, like many, really can’t make up my mind whether or not I think it’s likely to happen. Obviously with the PM keeping quiet on this none of us really have any definite answers but if you were a betting woman do you think I’ll be on the road or not? I’ve done a news and Twitter scour nowt to make brain a bit clearer on this.

Thank you.

@milly74

Anyone with plans stick to them restrictions or not. We need to stand up for ourselves!
Tbf I can see why people would worry about travelling long distances. I was non-compliant in the last lockdown and would be again, but some law breaking comes with a higher chance of detection than others.

Agreed. And no idea how they would even police people driving long distances when people are already mixing over Christmas 🎅🏻

We're off to see family tomorrow and am, in line with RedToothBrush's points, keeping a nervous eye on the news...
Really can't predict which way it will go, having been pretty decent at reading the runes over the past two ish years, as there are too many variables and competing factors.

We are travelling tomorrow. If it looks as if something is afoot then we will go a little earlier, so before it becomes official.

My kids have missed out in so much, we have been staying at home pretty much since schools shut, to ensure we are clear. They need to see their grandparents.

Omicrone · 26/12/2021 12:23

Yes, it will happen. There would have been rumblings in the media by now of an announcement, then they have to actually make the announcement, and then there is usually a couple of days before the restrictions actually kick in.

We're travelling across the country tomorrow, returning on 30th. We'll be going ahead whatever the advice.

I can't see any way there would be a change by tomorrow, and iirc all the previous regulations have included provisions for people to travel to their home.
