I’m on sixth day from the start of my symptoms, ninth day from positive pcr. Have cold symptoms, blocked nose, headache, fatigue. I had tickle throat and a cough but that’s gone now, I cough every now and again but not consistently. Feeling generally unwell and it doesn’t seem to be getting better, tried lft on day 6,7&8 but they are strongly positive so no point anymore. I think I will still test positive on day 10, but can I finish my isolation? Also how can I tell if I have omicron or delta? I’m triple jabbed and 40 years old.
Can you catch omicron variant more than once?
And finally when did everyone start feeling better? When it’s cold you normally feel better after a couple of days. With COVID it’s six days and counting 😬

Don’t have the answers I’m afraid but share your pain.
Haven’t slept though the night in over a week because of night sweats and shivers. Still coughing. Sore throat. Headache. Fatigued. Plus feel a bit sick.
Here is the official position:
“When to keep self-isolating after 10 days
If you have a high temperature after the 10 days, or are feeling unwell, keep self-isolating and seek medical advice”

It varies so much for everyone. Generally having been vaccinated will help shorten your illness and keep it mild.

I would say just rest and concentrate on looking after yourself to get better. I wouldn't bother testing again until at least day 10. It doesn't really tell you that much.

I hope you recover soon.

When I had Covid before vaccination was available it just went on and on. I was properly ill for 3weeks and it felt never ending. The waking up in the morning and feeling a bit better just never really happened and recovery was very gradual.

It's still early days for Covid recovery. It really is a rough virus. Hopefully the vaccinations will mean you do start feeling better soon.

Mine felt like the worst cold ever, with total loss of taste & smell to boot - took me about 2 weeks to feel more or less back to normal. (Wasn’t told if it was Delta or Omicron so no way of knowing.)

Day 10 and I finally feel better today although still totally exhausted. You have my sympathy it’s been way way worse than I expected and I have had both jabs.

I could have written your post except I’m on day 7 of isolation (had pcr last Saturday) and my symptoms started on Sunday when I had the positive result. I think I felt worse yesterday but it’s hard to say as I feel v rough today too! I also have had v dark positive lfts today and yesterday so know I will be in the full 10 days. I can’t imagine it will be all gone by Wednesday though!

Everyone else in my house had a few days of runny nose and sore throat then completely back to normal. My son who is also day 7 isolation is completely well now and tested negative on Lft today.

Hi all, thanks for your replies. I am on day 10 today and feeling a lot better. Still sinus headache but generally much better than yesterday when I just want to lay down all day long.
I even managed to do some workout and cleaned the floors today!
Fingers crossed it gets better form now on!
I wish a speedy recovery to all who has it at the moment, it is really a rotten virus!

I felt rough for seven weeks. Although I did get better after two weeks and my taste and smell returned, I still woke up feeling groggy and sneezy every morning for up to seven weeks.

I've been running today, that's the first time since starting to feel rough in October.

I know the last post on this thread was a Boxing Day but I just wanted to come back and update that after feeling like death warmed up and having a massive positive line on lft day 7, I woke up on day 9 suddenly feeling so much better. I literally went from feeling awful to pretty much back to normal overnight, which I wasn’t expecting.

I had a negative lateral flow that day too (and same on day 10 so I went out after that lft test rather than waiting for the next day).

Hopefully that will give some hope to any others feeling awful at the moment that it is possible to feel normal again overnight!
