Day 17 and now the cough starts ?!

Hi am at day 17 since my pcr ( cold symptoms started two days before )
And last night the coughing started. This morning I'm finding it slightly difficult to get a full breath in . Will check my stats with the oximeter later. ( I'm still in bed)
Has this happens to anyone else on Mumsnet? Should I be staying away from people again ? I hoped all this was over to be honest ?

Sounds like a new infection to me. Have you been exposed in between?

itspartytime · 24/12/2021 20:35

I blooming hope not, but I have had to go out to get supplies, so maybe ? I guess I should order a pack of lateral flow tests .

You could just have a cold now.

itspartytime · 24/12/2021 20:37

Oximeter reading is between 95 /96. And it's usually 99-100.

Did you take a LFT?

itspartytime · 24/12/2021 21:24

I don't have any, just logged onto gov site and there aren't any .

I think you'll probably need to isolate and have a PCR since it's a new cough. I don't think LFT's are recommended for new symptoms after you've already tested positive but PCRs are?

Annabelll · 24/12/2021 21:42

I got some symptoms late - chest tightness and a cough on day 9 but I hadn’t been anywhere so knew it couldn’t be a new infection. I kept isolating for a few extra days out of paranoia!

PickledWilly · 24/12/2021 21:42

I would say 17 days after a positive is likely to be residual symptoms following infection. I am 10 days in and if I got a cough in a weeks time I would definitely not be testing again

BigotSpigot · 24/12/2021 21:45

Could be residual symptoms, have you been up and about? Maybe you have done too much too early. The paramedics told me to be prepared to feel awful and rest for a month from the onset of symptoms.

LaMariposa · 24/12/2021 21:49

I had Covid before being vaccinated, and two weeks in or so it turned into pneumonia. I’d felt slightly better but then it settled in my lungs.
Never got any treatment though, just monitored at home with an oxygen monitor, and slowly recovered.
Oximeter never dropped below 96% for me though, and it only ever felt like I had crackling in one lung. A nurse friend also checked in on me.

I started with a cough on day 10 Confused it was annoying! But obviously, def related to covid.. lasted about a week.

Day 17 is a tricky one.. I’d probs LFT. Do any friends/fam/neighbours have one you can have?

Yika · 24/12/2021 21:53

I had shortness of breath which started on about day 10 and lasted a further 3 weeks or so - all following one infection - pretty sure about this as it was right at the start of the pandemic when we were in very strict lockdown.

Another broken night - slept sitting up in the end. Only the three of us that live here over the holidays and neither of them have caught it yet .
Happy Christmas everyone !
