LFT Christmas Eve morning- nervous

My parents are coming to stay tomorrow for two nights. They live a 3 hour drive away so we don't see them often. They are just so desperate to see my DCs at Christmas and I really hope we all test negative. Can't sleep 😕

We had to do lat flows on Tuesday as DTs had been in contact with a confirmed case last Thursday at nursery and both weren’t 100% (we had already done tests that were negative on them on Saturday for snotty coughs they’d developed and GP recommended a second test on day 5 post contact to definitely rule it out). Was very nervous for the results potentially putting paid to our Christmas plans of DFiL coming to stay from North Wales (we’ve not seen him since Christmas 2019 because of all the restrictions and other commitments etc) Thankfully all negative (as is he) and so we’re looking forward to his arrival this afternoon.

I’ve been testing daily for a week as I’m desperate to spend the day with my parents and brother. Negative so far but have been awake since 6am with cold symptoms. My ds has had a cold so really hoping it is just a cold and nothing more sinister 😭

Ooo... me too. We were in tier 3 last year but all relatives were in tier 4 so we were alone for Christmas. Going to my sil's and ILs are already there.

We tested earlier in the week and we were all negative so hoping that won't have changed.

Mine’s negative, just waiting for everyone else to get up and test so that my brother can set off to come here.

A friend of ours took a photo of three LFTs he'd taken within 24 hours (because he'd had close contact with a couple of positives and wife ECV). The ones am and pm the day before negative, the last one positive. For that reason we're doing ours tomorrow morning an hour before I get my Mum and a friend of DDs who lives in difficult circumstances and really needs to avoid covid. Fingers crossed, everything will be ok, but I've warned my Mum to have something nice in the freezer just in case (we exchanged presents a few days ago just in case to be saved for tomorrow).

I did a test yesterday morning prior to heading out to work and was negative. By yesterday evening, I couldn't get off the sofa, had a pounding head and tested positive.

Leave the LFTs till as last minute as possible if you can. DH was five days into Covid before the faintest of lines turned up on the lateral flows.
