Having a glass of wine with Covid

I'm on day 4. Feeling ok, bit of a sore throat. DH has done us some cheese and biscuits and we have all the xmas lights on, fire roaring, am I ok to have a glass or Red?

I've not had any painkillers since I woke up this morning and have drunk lots of water. Anyone else drank whilst positive?

Oh DH did, he was fi¡ne

ScarlettDarling · 23/12/2021 20:23

My dh has had a beer every night! He’s thoroughly fed up with isolating despite feeling fine so has had a little treat to cheer him up!

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 23/12/2021 20:24

I did all the time . Nothing else to do , couldn't taste it though

Onegingerhead · 23/12/2021 20:24

If you are feeling fine why not? Boost your spirit!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/12/2021 20:25

I did at the start when I was asymptomatic.

Puppyseahorse · 23/12/2021 20:26

I didn’t know this was a concern?

Chosenonesneakymincepie · 23/12/2021 20:26

Great Wine I'm so glad I can taste it, but well aware this may all change by xmas day! I'll be fuming if can't taste my dinner.

I did, but wine tasted rotten Xmas Sad

Watto1 · 23/12/2021 20:28

I did. Don’t see any harm in it. I mean, I wouldn’t go bonkers (because a hangover on top of Covid would be horrible!) but a glass of wine won’t do you any harm.

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 23/12/2021 20:32

Meh, if you are well enough to want to have it why not.

Lindy2 · 23/12/2021 20:41

If you feel well enough and fancy it then go for it.

I could hardly eat or drink when I had Covid and definitely couldn't even handle the thought of alcohol for about a month.

I'm glad you are recovering well.

LittleBabyCheeses · 23/12/2021 20:47

Sat here with a gin and tonic and Covid!

ChristingleJingle · 23/12/2021 20:49

I'm currently about a week in to being positive, the thought of alcohol is in no way appealing HOWEVER if you fancy it, go for it!

notangelinajolie · 23/12/2021 20:51

Yes but it might not taste very nice. I think I had Covid in the very early days before tests and poured 2 bottles of wine down the sink thinking they had gone off Shock

ALittleOldLadyTookInHerGoat · 23/12/2021 20:53

I'm day 5. Lost my taste sometime on day 4.
It's awful. Eating is a waste of time!

the80sweregreat · 23/12/2021 20:53

A small drop of whiskey might help too op.
I've had covid recently and it was horrible, so wish you better ( I've had the jabs etc)
I had a booster yesterday and I feel as if I've got covid again now :(
They did warn me about the side effects to be fair

Chosenonesneakymincepie · 23/12/2021 21:13

I had my booster 2 weeks ago, I was awful after it, but it seems to be keeping it mild so far. I was feverish the other day which was rough but it was short lived. Strange bloody virus

OP posts:
Boxbox2 · 23/12/2021 21:20

I usually have half a serving of whisky when I'm feeling rough. But if you feel like wine, have the wine!

HarrisMcCoo · 23/12/2021 21:22

I am avoiding alcohol, just not feeling up to drinking as I feel absolutely shit. Throat is sore, over a week now. PCR negative but I feel like this is the worst cold I have ever had.

LittleBabyCheeses · 23/12/2021 21:42

I felt very very ill for a day (day 2). Since then I’ve felt absolutely fine! Very weird virus. Hits hard then disappears.
Chosenonesneakymincepie · 23/12/2021 22:34

🍷 one glass was enough. Might have some fizz tomorrow. Ready for bed now, definitely more tired. Cheers

FenceSplinters · 23/12/2021 22:37

I drank when I had it.

Iloveacurry · 23/12/2021 22:38

We did and we were fine! Cheers

SirensofTitan · 23/12/2021 22:40

@Puppyseahorse

I didn’t know this was a concern?
Neither did I and I was messaging yesterday with a friend who is currently isolating and she said she was enjoying being able to have a drink in the evening as she doesn't have to get up early for work. I'll have to see if she knows she shouldn't be drinking
Friendviv1987 · 23/12/2021 22:41

I tested positive last Christmas Day…Wine kept me sane …couldn’t taste it after Boxing Day but it still helped for medicinal purposes 😂
