Just as the title says. I've only had 1 jab, currently on day 4 of covid and feel like rubbish. My anxiety is sky high and I'm convinced I'm going to suddenly decline and get worse. I'm 39, female, no pre existing conditions. Can any health professionals help me out? What is my risk? What should I look out for? Are there many patients like me in hospitals? 😩

Try not to worry! Have you got anyone there with you? My sister with only one jab caught it and she is 45 ver heavy smoker and drinker. I was terrified, but she came through it. I know this is just anecdotal, but you should be ok!

bumblefeline · 23/12/2021 16:47

I caught it last year before any vaccines. I am lazy and morbidly obese and was fine, I was 39 as well. It is a mild illness for most people remember.

Get well soon OP.

Why have you only had one vaccine?

Chances are, you’ll be fine but probs worth getting fully vaxxed if you very anxious about covid 🤷🏼‍♀️

Mumma331 · 23/12/2021 16:57

Hi I posted a similar thread a couple of weeks ago when I came down with Covid ad I too have only had 1 Pfizer jab and was worried.

I had achey legs, a temperature for 48hrs but that was it! I was honestly fine and full of energy.

One vaccine still gives very good protection so I’m sure and hope you will be absolutely fine. Also worrying doesn’t change anything it just makes you feel worse so try to take your mine off of it and tell yourself you will be fine.

Do you have a thermometer and oximeter to hand just for your own reassurance? xx

mandoforever · 23/12/2021 16:58

Have you got an oximeter?
If not get one on amazon prime, my friends had one when she got covid. She said it helped a lot knowing her oxygen levels were fine.

Please don't worry the odds are massively that you'll be fine, you're young and you've had one jab.

I had a it as a fat, unvaccinated, almost 50 year old last year and was only ever mildly ill...

JanglyBeads · 23/12/2021 17:02

Thousands of people had it before vaccines were rolled out and 99% of them were fine after a few days! It’s hard to remember that now. It is still the case that the average person won’t get very sick.

Oximeter would be a very good idea. Just stay calm and treat as you would for a bad cold.

I caught covid about April time having had one jab. I have bmi over 40 and thyroid problems. I couldn't smell or taste for a week and then was absolutely fine.

There really is no way you can guess the outcome of this.

I would just make sure you have food and drinks and medicines in the house in case you feel really rough and have someone able to call or message you to check in

eggman007 · 23/12/2021 17:06

The odds are vastly in your favour. I'm 46 and had it pre-vax. I did feel utterly rubbish and it took me a good few weeks to get back to my normal self. However, no hospital needed and able to manage things well with good self-care. This is your most likely outcome, if not a more favourable one.

Take good care of yourself and try and limit your media exposure.
