Hi, looking for some hope here. My dh had a slight cough last night, nothing else so routinely he did an lft. To our complete shock he was positive. Another test, still positive. Ds and I tested last night and we are negative. The three of us went for a pcr first thing this morning and are waiting for the results. To say we are gutted is an understatement. I have done absolutely everything I can to avoid it these last weeks as I work in a school and I thought we had done it. My lovely mum is in her eighties and will be alone if I now get it. We can't isolate from one another and no available spare room. I have opened windows, trying to wipe stuff down extra regularly. We do have a super king sized bed so although we're sharing there can be a distance. Ds has it very mild, a slight cough and that's it. I am triple vaccinated, ds is 16 and has had his 2 jabs, second one less than a week ago. Dh has had all his jabs and his booster but again, had the booster less than a week ago. Any success stories please where you have been unable to fully isolate from an infected family member but not got covid?

We've had it in the house twice in the last month and none of the rest of us have caught it. But I think it would be a significant risk to visit your elderly mother when there's a case in your household as there is a very real chance you could be infectious - even if you test negative on an LFT they aren't foolproof, and with Omicron's short incubation period even a PCR would be out of date by the time you get the result.

I'm sorry, you must be gutted.

We are going through this at the mo. DS on day 7 of isolation. But the rest of us are still negative on both lft and pcr. We've not distanced from him - he's only 7. Both dp and I are fully vaxxed and had boosters a week before positive. I'd fully assumed that we'd test positive at some point especially as nearly half his class and their parents have, but for some reason we've stayed negative.

Same in this house, DS2 positive last Saturday, noone is keeling their distance as hes only 8, rest of household are daily testing and have remained negative so far, Im really praying weve swerved it, but still time to test positive and I imagine it's crunch time now as we are on his day 6. I'll let you know if we come out clear the other side. I do know of several friends who didn't catch it off their children or partners though, so there's a decent chance you won't. Good luck!!

Sorry to hear this. My two DC caught covid back in September. Presumably from school as I couldn't think where else they could have got it from. Both had mild symptoms but totally different symptoms to each other (youngest with gastro symptoms, oldest more like a cold.) Our house isn't big enough to socially distance from each other and I was looking after them both anyway. I fully expected both DH and I to get it but we didn't. Our PCR tests came back negative and we followed up with LFD tests, which were also negative. DH is jabbed, I'm not (for medical reasons, I'm not anti vax before anyone starts!)

It was obviously a very stressful time and I was convinced we were about to fall seriously ill any day but we somehow we didn't. The kids recovered quickly and went back to school after their mandatory isolation.

Fingers crossed you manage to avoid it and that they only have a mild case.

Two teens came back from Boardmasters one tested positive within a day I took Second and teen that didn’t go 40 mins in the car to get them vaccinated. Second teen positive day after jab myself Spare teen and partner did not catch covid and our social distancing was honestly pants! Also I work in a hospital and have managed to dodge it!

Us!…. So far….

Me and husband both tested positive on PCR and LFT on Monday. Both pretty ill with it but the 2 kids (12 and 10) showing negative with no symptoms!

We can’t isolate from them obviously, and living as normal at home and it’s only day 4 today- but fingers crossed… all ok.

Thank you all so, so much for your inspiring stories! I feel way more hopeful now that myself and ds will dodge it at least. Sadly, I think many people will be isolating over Christmas.
