Sorry its another covid thread Blush

Does anyone think universities will be made to revert to online learning after Christmas? I have a first year student with ASD whose mental health isn't fantastic at the best of times, he settled in really well in his first term away, has started making friends etc. I'm starting to worry about how he will cope if he's stuck at home learning on a laptop again.

Just wondered if anyone else was worried about the same?

Somewhat concerned, more because I'm quite enjoying him not being here after a stressful summer.
He's only got 2.5hrs a week in person lectures anyway, but has joined a couple of clubs.
Don't know how he'd feel about it.

I believe Queens in Belfast have already said they'll be back to remote learning in January. Our daily cases are higher than England's, though.

Dreading this. My child struggled to settle but was finally finding her feet. This will really set her back.

One of my DC has first year assessments in January that are online, so not planning to go back until after that anyway.
The other is returning to celebrate New Year with friends, so will definitely be spending any restrictions in their student house.

I'm postgrad, we had an email this week to say that all our planned exams in jan Feb will be online ... no in person teaching.

Dd is at Nottingham and hasn’t heard anything at all about a move to online. As far as she’s aware they’re going back as normal.

The university I work for is cautiously optimistic. Term ended a while ago but services still run until the 23rd & our most recent Comms said to plan for a normal return but be prepared to jump back to covid-working methods at short notice.
I realise that doesnt help, but just to give a university pov

The university I work at is planning for full in person teaching from January, with all students learning remotely due back by the end of Jan at the latest. We’ll see…

Xmasbaby11 · 21/12/2021 23:30

The university I work for is planning full face to face as usual.

However, we are prepared to switch to online and can do this at a day's notice. Students are told at the same time as staff, but all departments have had to plan for the possibility of remote learning at any point.

My dd has exams starting in second week of January. Up until today they were told the exams would definitely be in person and if n/Covid meant a student couldn’t attend, they would have to resit in summer. Today she got an email saying the exams would now be done online. ...

Our university is planning being back face to face as normal. All staff who can work from home will continue to do so, but the VC was clear that it's a priority having students in.
