DH and I in isolation for Xmas

Youngatheart00 · 21/12/2021 19:50

DH tested positive today. Im waiting on a PCR result but testing positive on a lateral flow just now so I guess that’s that Sad

We have zero Christmas food in as we were due to spend it with family.

My sister is going to go to M&S for us tomorrow so need to make a list.

So far we are both feeling ok-ish, with cold symptoms and mostly just really low.

Anyone else want to join the enforced solitary Christmas club??

Flowers so sorry OP

I have a terrible cold and burning chest but so far no positive so hoping I recover for Xmas. But I'm preparing myself for the worst.

Lucky you have someone to shop for you at least. Silver linings!

Youngatheart00 · 21/12/2021 19:55

Poor you @NigellaBangBangTurkey that sounds miserable.

Yes we are very lucky to have DSis to help with the shopping. Just so sad we won’t be able to spend time with both families. Another zoom Christmas. Third time lucky in 2022 maybe….

I think my parents are annoyed…was supposed to be with them on Xmas eve and now can’t. It’s not as if I intentionally caught it…I don’t even know where we did tbh…we’ve not been taking many risks

Snap OP! So sorry, it's rotten. We are thinking of just postponing Christmas until we are better. Hope you feel ok.Thanks

Lindy2 · 21/12/2021 20:00

I hope you both recover quickly. Hopefully you are vaccinated and your symptoms will stay mild.

Put lots of easy and tempting snack type food on your list. You may well not feel like cooking at all and if your smell and taste goes eating isn't much fun.

LondonladyTTC · 21/12/2021 20:00

Ps we just got a Tesco delivery slot for tomorrow and they do still have some Christmas stuff left if you aren't picky!

Youngatheart00 · 21/12/2021 20:07

Yes we are both triple vaccinated although our boosters were probably too recent to be of use.

Looks like it’s going to be a very tv-centric Christmas

Helps me to know there are others in the same boat.

We are too both my boys tested positive on an lft yesterday ,and have symptoms just awaiting PCR results ,we were going to my parents ,but they are both nearly 80 and not in the best of health 😥

Coasterfan · 21/12/2021 20:27

DS tested positive on a lateral flow an hour ago and has symptoms so that’s our festive fun (legoland, zoo and drive in cinema) all cancelled and our butlins holiday for new year too 😞😞 doesn’t affect Xmas day as that’s just the four of us but it’s the build up and our new year break that’s most important to us so I m upset tonight.

When did you get them ?
bumblefeline · 21/12/2021 20:29

Same here in this house as well. Had covid at exactly the same time last year as well. Fortunately I did a big shop yesterday.

Get well soon.

Youngatheart00 · 21/12/2021 20:31

@Coasterfan oh no what a shame, all those lovely things cancelled.

I had my booster 10 days ago. DH had his a week ago.

Us too. Meant to be spending it with my parents who have come back from France (where they live) for 12 days... local friends rallied round and have done a shop etc for us, but looks like I'm not going to see them for another year, other than through a window.

I've seen them for 5 days since March 2020.

DancesWithFelines · 21/12/2021 20:35

DS and I have tested positive on LFTs and are awaiting our PCR results... 31 hours and counting! I desperately need to know the result ASAP as I need to cancel our xmas cottage, get in touch with travel insurance as the cottage won't refund, let work know so I can claim back my annual leave, and reschedule a trainee I am due to have just after Xmas. Then work out Xmas food etc.
So stressed with the admin side of it while not feeling very well.

Youngatheart00 · 21/12/2021 20:40

@Evvyjb that’s no time at all with family since the pandemic began, and so sad they’ve made the trip and you now can’t be with them.

@DancesWithFelines you’re right it’s the admin of it all which is particularly stressful. I am wfh which means there is an expectation I will continue, but I’m going to see how I am as I honestly feel I’ve worked myself into the ground this year. If one upside is a couple of days rest I’m going to set an out of office and take it, guilt free.
