Anyone else heard this? Health secretary pushing for it. I really hope so as we will be free for Xmas. Isolation for us currently ends Boxing Day, even though we are now testing negative on LFT

Really positive development.

This might just save our Christmas

But I am not going to tell the kids yet
In a way it just adds more tension for me because a number of things have to fall into place

-DS tests have to go negative (I haven't bothered to test him again yet since his positive as it seemed a waste of tests)

  • the rest of our tests need to stay negative
  • our extended family have to feel OK with this too

...IN ENGLAND

Great news if you have stash of LTF one box 7 doesn’t last very long! What happens if it’s positive day 6 but clear day 7/8?

I would imagine that you can then end isolation on day 8.

I don't understand- I thought you still tested positive for up to 90 days after having covid? My niece isn't doing LFTs for school currently due to that reason

PeaceONoeuf · 22/12/2021 09:47

Think that’s PCRs not LFDs

You can still test positive for up to 90 days after an infection and the old guidance was you aren't supposed to test for that period. However a lot of people test negative eventually in the quarantine period, DS did after day 5 of Delta. Presumably under the new rules you'd still have to do the full 10 days if you are positive at day 6 and 7 but then can go out after day 10 as your infectious period is definitely over.
