DS finished quarantine on 15th Nov.

He's just had a faint LFT after saying feeling 'like he has corona again'

I thought you couldn't catch it again for a while 😩

I’m sure I’ve read that you can test positive up to 90 days after having COVID and that you shouldn’t test for this reason?

You can get omicron after delta.

No reason why you can't get it soon after. Indeed apparently you can get both at once.

NotAgainUh · 21/12/2021 15:29

Ah so he might not have it?

How on earth would you find out either way then if he's not feeling well?

DD1 (17) tested positive first time on the 15th Aug and 2nd on the 14th Dec.

I don’t think you can. The advice is that no testing for 90 days (in case dead virus is picked up) unless new onset of symptoms requiring a PCR. At that point a positive should be treated like a separate infection even though there’s a chance it might not be.

I have seen reports from people that they can have relapses of symptoms as part of long covid but I think you’d need that investigated properly and for the immediate he needs to follow guidelines for a suspected covid infection. It is possible to catch another variant or even suffer from a reinfection but there’s no way for the average person to get that confirmed.

You are advised not to retest within 90 days for this reason, you can get a false positive. If you tried to book him a PCR it asks have you tested positive in the last 90 days, if you click yes I'm assuming it wouldn't let you book one (although not been in that position so I'm not 100%)
I'm not sure how you'd know if he did actually have it again, maybe ring your doctor and ask for guidance from them?

You are exempt from routine testing for 90 days but if you have symptoms you should get a test. I'm not sure what the likelihood of getting reinfected so soon is though. It's been said that delta doesn't protect against omicron. We've just had covid and assuming delta. I'm worried about getting omicron! 😪
