Hi all - just wonder if anyone else has received this.

In the post today I received a PCR test with a leaflet saying if I have Covid symptoms I need to take and post back. And I will be given anti viral medication. Nothing else explaining why although I am CEV due to severe asthma.

Anyone else?

Yes. My mum - came today too.

SoSickOfItNow · 21/12/2021 15:25

No.
DH is CEV and we haven’t had this but I saw on the news recently they were starting to offer people the drugs if they were positive as they had been having good results. I hope he gets one too.

withgraceinmyheart · 21/12/2021 15:25

Not me, but I’ve heard of this happening. It’s because the new anti vitals need to be started as soon as possible after infection so they want to make sure the most vulnerable get quick test results.

StillSmallVoice · 21/12/2021 15:25

Someone told me they had an email about it. Am CEV but haven't heard anything. I was wondering whether I am off the CEV list because I've had a third primary vaccine.

BlusteringBoobies · 21/12/2021 15:27

Yes! Check your email junk. I'm CEV and only went looking as my mum had one.

Email stating treatment is available and it's best to keep a pcr at home to get tested as soon as symptoms start as the treatment is most effective if taken in the first 3 days

I dont think so. A friend has been contacted about it and she has had the third primary vaccine.

Tbh it all seems to be a mess.

BlusteringBoobies · 21/12/2021 15:28

Email starts like this (again, mine had gone into junk)

PCR test sent to house - CEV
ColitisSucks · 21/12/2021 15:28

Yes, had an email about it but not had the test yet.

I've also had a 3rd primary vaccine. Had the email but no test arrived as yet
TeaTray · 21/12/2021 15:30

Yes, there was a thread about it yesterday.

It’s not all CEV.

thing47 · 21/12/2021 15:36

DH has had the email, in his it says he should receive the home PCR test by 10th January at the latest but if he experiences symptoms in the meantime to call 111.

I believe the anti-virals need to be taken within 5 days of experiencing symptoms, at the latest.

DH got an email yesterday. If you haven't had one yet, I'm sure you will soon.

StillSmallVoice · 21/12/2021 16:17

Not in junk, but I guess it will turn up in due course. Thanks for the information about the new medication. That is good news.

Livpool · 21/12/2021 16:23

Found mine in the junk folder

OP posts:
Squidwardrules · 21/12/2021 17:37

Mine was in junk as well

Toddlerteaplease · 21/12/2021 17:44

Yes. Did you get the email about being able to have one of the new drugs if you test positive?

Senso21 · 21/12/2021 18:10

I got the email and was in my junk folder too!

Not received the test kit yet though, not sure what to make of it all. Haven’t heard/read much into the anti viral medications

Bubblty · 21/12/2021 18:13

Ooh thats cool!

gogohm · 21/12/2021 18:22

They have sent them out so there's no delay in getting tested, the new medication needs to be started quite quickly after catching it

toomuchicecream · 21/12/2021 19:20

Yup. Had the email the same day as my positive result, followed a few hours later by a call offering me special antivirals - I would get a call from the hospital pharmacy when ready for collection. Except no one’s called and I can’t find anyone who knows anything about it (including said pharmacy). So don’t get too excited. (Apparently I’m eligible for the monoclonal antibody infusion that was all over the news yesterday but there are no beds available for them to administer it.)

CatAlice · 21/12/2021 21:54

@toomuchicecream - I hope you have a mild case. I would be ringing everyone and stamping my feet tomorrow if it was me.

toomuchicecream · 21/12/2021 22:30

So do I!! It’s PALS first thing tomorrow - tried absolutely everyone else I (and a consultant paediatrician friend) can think of.
