DH positive. What are the chances I’ll swerve this?

DH positive, symptoms started Wednesday evening. For the first few days his symptoms were mild and we thought it was side effect from booster jab so we weren’t keeping separate, by the time he got his positive result on Saturday it seemed a bit pointless for him to isolate in one room so we’ve been together in the house.

What do you reckon the chances are of me managing to escape catching it? Anyone been in a similar position and stayed negative?

I don’t feel unwell so far and have been getting negative LFTs.
It’s so unnerving just waiting to see if I get sick, feel like I’m hyper aware of my body alert for any possible symptom.

My two had it

I didn’t remotely isolate from there. In fact even more kisses and cuddles than normal!

Negative

I have not isolated within my house at all. DH and I have continued sharing a bed while I've had covid. He still hasn't got it (day 8 post postive test result here).

Watto1 · 20/12/2021 17:17

I tested positive a week ago. Only went for a pcr to rule out Covid and was so surprised at the positive result. Dh was actually in the bed with me when the text came through at 6am so we decided not to sleep separately as thought there was little point as we had been breathing the same air all night. Dh and dc took a pcr the day I tested positive and have done daily lateral flows ever since. On day 7 now. DH and the dc still negative.

My 3 year old had it a few months ago. She was a typical small child (licking up, trying to force feed us her half chewed food etc etc) and neighbour my husband or I caught it.

My husband caught it last week - I slept seperately and kept my distance from him as much as possible. I tested positive over the weekend.

So I think it could go either way!

SamMil · 20/12/2021 17:21

*neither my husband or I

DH had it back in the Spring. We shared a bed and didn't isolate and neither I or the children got it.

DD2 had it from school a few weeks ago. Nobody in the household got it.

Depends if it’s Delta or omicron.

Delta has less of a transmission rate in the house. Our DS had it in Nov and we didn’t isolate. I played board games with him for hours and didn’t pick it up.

I think some people are super spreaders and some are the opposite. So it’s hard to tell. Not a given you’ll get it though.

Gingerbreadhoose · 20/12/2021 17:26

My mum is positive at the moment, tested positive Monday last week. She's been with her partner the whole time, no distancing whatsoever. He hasn't caught it.

WhatMattersMost · 20/12/2021 17:29

If it's Delta, you have a good chance of avoiding it. If it's Omicron, then quite probably not.

Gingerbreadhoose · 20/12/2021 18:14

My mum has omicron and her partner hasn't got it.

StruggleStreet · 20/12/2021 18:15

Thanks all. This gives me some hope that I might get away with it!
Have a toddler and a baby who still wakes a lot at night so could really do without COVID on top of the exhaustion.

If it's omicron...given the spread...no chance.
If it's delta...little chance.
Original strain/Kent ...quite a good chance.
Of course you'll not know what strain it is but I'd assume if you're in the south it's omicron now. North more likely Delta.

BurningTheClocks · 20/12/2021 18:24

I’ve been teaching primary throughout, haven’t tested positive yet despite close contact in with unvaccinated children in poorly ventilated rooms for hours every day. Maybe you’ll get lucky.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 20/12/2021 18:25

Me and dd had it within the last two weeks- DH and DS both had escaped it.

Really odd as DH and I were still sharing a bed, and the kids were swapping cups and dummies etc.

No idea what strain but we’re in the South West so working on the assumption there is a fair chance it’s Omicron. DH, BIL, DH best friend plus about 20 others all seem to have picked it up from the same party last weekend so seems like it’s spread really easily there! All the wives of the men in attendance now just waiting to see if we get ill over Christmas. Hope it was a bloody amazing party.

My hubby had it. I didnt get it according to the lateral flow tests I did daily. He caught it at wedding reception or a 21st birthday party that happened within days of each other. I didn't go to either event as ironically I was feeling crap with PMT!!

Franklin12 · 20/12/2021 18:54

What is the % for Omicrom?
