Positive lateral flow 3 weeks after having Covid??

I have been just getting over Covid, had a negative lateral flow 1 week after. But haven't done another LF since then as still just trying to get rid of cough etc. Am about to visit my parents and have just had a positive LF!

I still haven't completely got rid of my symptoms from my original infection, but went for my first run this morning and felt pretty good and am definitely feeling better.

Have I got reinfected again so quickly??!

I agree it could be a reinfection. Wise to be careful I think. Sorry Confused

Could you do a PCR test? That might confirm it is a different variant.

PCR can continue to be positive but doesn't always. Not in our family's experience (we do monthly swabs for the ONS survey. Knew we had current infection, got positives, back to negative a month later). One of us had negative LFTs in the meantime too.

@Anyother

I don't think I would go home in your position. You're already there - on balance it's highly unlikely to be a reinfection. And in the unlikely event it is - they've already been exposed. Your plan sounds good - in the meantime could you enjoy a bit of me time and let everyone else get on with it?
Yes, that's what I was thinking re their already being exposed. Also to be here to look after them if they did get it. Feel like it's the least we could do!

Though my 5 year old has now started coughing again, will test her in the morning. But it's not looking good. 🙁

I have had two negative LFTs this morning!! Still don't have any new symptoms.

I really don't know what's going on. My 5 year old has tested negative too!

It was weakly positive yesterday - I guess I could have been at the tail end of a reinfection?! But that would mean I would have got it a week after my initial dose.... 🤯

That's good to hear, OP. Try not to worry (as much as is possible in the current climate) and try and enjoy your stay.

Thank youSmile Did a third on this afternoon - also negative! So weird. But I'm so glad, I didn't sleep at all last night worrying.
