If you’ve had/have omicron, were you told?

Dd currently isolating in her bedroom due to positive lft. She will have to isolate over Xmas. Sad
Other dd and I have both had delta but not omicron. Dd thinks it is omicron due to symptoms. Will she be told when she gets her pcr back if it is omicron? I thought you were told but she says she has friends who think have it but they haven’t been told with their pcr results.

The only way of knowing if you have Omicron is by being told you have Omicron.

Most people won't find out which strain they had.
Only a certain percentage of labs can do the sequencing which will determine which strain.

I know of one person who knows they have omicron - that's because his contacts were told, as it was when they had to isolate due to the strain.

I've never known of anyone being told which strain they have other than that one incident. I'd have no idea which strain I had - I assume it was the classic original type.

Thank you.
Yes I understand that the only way of knowing is if you’re told. I just thought you were told, due to contacts having to isolate or lft.
Ok so the chances are she won’t know.
Thanks for your help
