Don't understand when day 1 of self isolation is

DH has tested +ve, but didn't do a LFT until a couple of days after feeling like he had a bad cold.

When is day 1?

When he did the +ve LFT (he tested -ve for the 2 days prior); when he gets his PCR result back; when he started feeling ill?

Main reason for asking is that we have a serious water leak under the house but no one will come out until he & DS2 (who also tested +ve but a day earlier - again after feeling unwell for >24 hours) have done their self isolation.

Gov.uk website as usual is unclear & we are constantly arguing about when to get the plumber to come!

First day of symptoms (or positive LFT if no symptoms) is classed as Day 0.
So if your symptoms started on the 8th (for example), that would be Day 0 and the last day of isolation would be the 18th. Freedom Day would be the 19th.

It’s first day of symptoms OR positive PCR. I had minor sore throat days 1&2 then day 3 full of covid and then positive LTF I counted the sore throat as days 1&2.

If you have no symptoms but positive test then you have no idea if you are on day 1 or day 9 so have presume it’s day 1.

The Zoe app has much more comprehensive list of symptoms. If I went by NHS site it only counts highly temp, constant cough or change taste or smell. Zoe info says runny nose, sneezing, sore throat and headache are more likely to be symptoms in double jabbed.

But I agree hard if minor symptoms to work out if that’s day 1 or not.

DS had similar, felt a bit rubbish but tested negative on LFT. His day 0 was the day before his positive PCR as it was decided he had clear symptoms that day (PCR booked for first thing as it was the soonest we could get).
DH had no symptoms but tested positive on LFT the same day as the PCR. His day 0 was the day of the PCR.
