Either lock us down or don’t.But tell us one way or the other.
It’s my daughters birthday party on the 8th Jan. She’s so excited about it. She didn’t get one last year. I just want to know. I don’t want to let her down at the last minute again. It’s disgusting they way they are constantly leaking little bits of info and not telling us what they are really planning.
I’ve had enough of all the bullshit and spin.
One things for certain she will be celebrating with friends one way or the other. She’s missed enough of her childhood milestones. Not partaking in this shit any more.

Well it is nice to know that you have opted out of a pandemic.
Have you got your solicitor to write a formal letter to the virus?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 19/12/2021 14:23

I understand your frustration but the reason they don’t tell us what’s going to happen in January isn’t deliberately to stress you out, it’s because they don’t know.

olivehater · 19/12/2021 14:25

Thanks so much for your pithy reply.

I’ve had Covid. My kids have had Covid . I’ve been vaccinated. I’ve been boosted. I’ve worked on the nhs front line the whole bloody time.

I just some clarity instead of all the lies and bullshit. I don’t want to be told a few days before her birthday she can’t have a party when she is so excited about it. She’s only little once.

Bollox they don’t know! They are stringing us out and treating us like idiots.

If you have worked on the NHS frontline throughout the pandemic and yet are saying you won't abide by any further restrictions to save your employers, colleagues and clients, then not only are you part of the problem, but you're a disgrace.
TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 19/12/2021 14:27

If you've worked on the NHS front line surely you would want to protect yourself and your colleagues, no?

How helpful. Lovely to see so much empathy on here.

OP I'm with you. If I were you and were able to ensure she could see friends whatever the circumstances I would do it too.

olivehater · 19/12/2021 14:29

And what happened to slow irreversible opening up. Are we doing this every time there’s a new variant? As if it isn’t shitty enough having a January birthday, she gets to look downward to it being cancelled every year going forward.

OP posts:
Moonopoly · 19/12/2021 14:34

I think we are all finding it difficult OP. Uncertainty is hard.
Johnson should never had said the roadmap was irreversible. Like with Brexit he was playing to his further right back benchers to save his own skin and not telling the truth to the public. He couldn’t possibly promise that because they always knew there might be a variant that would cause challenges for the vaccine.

olivehater · 19/12/2021 14:34

I’m not the one that’s unvaccinated. I haven’t left the country since 2019 so I haven’t brought any variants in. The nhs is a mess because it’s underfunded and understaffed. I don’t believe we need to lock down again to protect the nhs, we need to get vaccinated.

I am allowed disagree with whatever restrictions they think they see fit this week. That doesn’t make me a disgrace. I want to put my child first for once.

Ironically your decision means the whole thing will last longer.

When you're going through hell keep going.

Getting the kids in her class together increases the chances of her class being sent home.

If you think a 2 week circuit breaker is going to make covid away then you're as deluded as the conspiracy theorists on YouTube.

The people refusing to get vaccinated are making this whole thing last longer.

I don't believe in forced vaccinations or passports but my god my patience is wearing thin when people refuse to get vaccinated for utterly ridiculous reasons. I don't the best way to resolve it but we cannot be forced into restrictions because some people are too stupid to be vaccinated.

I don't think you understand quite how pandemics work
TerraNovaTwo · 19/12/2021 14:40

It's not going away any time soon. These restrictions, lockdowns, high vaccine uptake, etc is doing NOTHING to stop the spread. The first lockdown did NOTHING either!

If we are going to have this around for the foreseeable, whoever is in government is going to have to come up with an airtight plan. Otherwise we face an almost irreversible socio-economic collapse..

Do what you feel feels right for you and your family,OP

olivehater · 19/12/2021 14:41

First of all they are talking about keeping schools open so that point is moot. And second obviously I’m not going to have a class party because I can’t. But if people think we should keep her at home and not see any friends or family on her birthday again then they can piss off.

They know. Wales and Scotland have at least had the good grace to give people a heads up. The Netherlands have just locked down to prevent more cases.

They know what's going to happen and they know how they're going to deal with it. They just won't tell us until after Christmas.

DSGR · 19/12/2021 14:45

The uncertainty is hard but the data and pandemics by their very nature are uncertain.

Not to mention three weeks to flatten the curve. Back in march 2020.
Postdatedpandemic · 19/12/2021 14:53

They can't tell us what will happen because they don't know yet. There is not enough data to give accurate projections. By the time there is, either we won't need to lockdown or it will be too late.
It is pretty shit for all of us.
Our politicians have no real clue what they are doing nor do most of the global ones. We'll be able to look back in ten years or so and have a reasonable idea of who chose the right path. Right know nobody knows.
They are not picking on you or your daughter. Plan a party, have plans B and C up your sleeve.

Not partaking in this shit any more grow up, it is your job to deflect the shit away from your DD.

girlmom21 · 19/12/2021 14:58

By the time there is, either we won't need to lockdown or it will be too late.

If that's the case surely they can either just lock down now with no notice or say they're definitely not going to lock down.

InTheMiddle23 · 19/12/2021 15:03

Let her have her party 🎉

olivehater · 19/12/2021 15:04

Don’t tell someone who is clearly upset andventing on a forum about something that is affecting their family to grow up. It makes you look smug and nasty. I do everything I can to deflect this shit away from my kids. Doing my absolute best to not give them a complex about it all and have a normal childhood.
