Boosters are a joke.......

Have a good friend who hasn't had a jab and neither has her mum (not judging, her choice etc)but every single day she's making digs at me.
I said I was tired last week she jumps in
"Probably off the jab"
I had my last vaccination in may!
A few of her statements
"Since my aunt had the jab she's been acting weird, all happy and thinks she's invincible "
"The jabs don't work,it's a test"
"See people dying who have had both jabs, pleased I never got it"

Now her latest is "hospitals are preparing to see who can handle the boosters and who can't"

Her ex's mum passed away from covid (she had COPD and heart problem and passed away from covid )
Her ex had it too
Both refused the vaccine

Her response ..."bit fishy them saying it was covid ,I don't buy it"

How would you approach this?
Would you try explaining stuff to her to try and help her understand?
Or just leave her to it and when she mentions it change the subject?

She’d be a former friend.

SenseSphere · 19/12/2021 10:23

How would I handle it? Honestly? I’d probably let this friendship wither on the vine. It’s not that they take a different view on vaccines, that’s up to them, more the sly digs at your decision to get it.

Copasetic · 19/12/2021 10:24

Yeah, I couldn’t be friends with her but if you are, don’t argue it and just ignore. You really can’t educate stupid.

thatsallineed · 19/12/2021 10:31

Yep. You can't argue with stupid, so just leave her to get on with it.

LowPowerMode · 19/12/2021 10:33

That's just dumb. Cancel her.

diddl · 19/12/2021 10:34

If people want/don't want the jab, entirely up to them.

No need to try to convince/convert others though imo!

Is she really a friend if she keeps mentioning it all the time knowing that your opinions are different?

BingoLingFucker · 19/12/2021 10:37

There seems to be an anti vaxx anti covid cult, spouting stuff that’s easily debunked, but feeling they are the enlightened ones.

Ignore.

Kbish1 · 19/12/2021 10:39

Tell her to shut the fuck up if she can't say anything intelligent and then make her a former friend.

WhereYouLeftIt · 19/12/2021 10:41

"How would you approach this?"

Probably by saying something like 'Fuck me but you've become a boring bastard about the vaccine. You never shut up about it, little digs all over the place, whining about everything bad being caused by it. You're obsessed! Do you ever listen to yourself? You sound like a right thicko.'

Can you tell I'd no longer consider her a friend and so not be worried about pissing her off? (In fact actively trying to do so.)

ThievesTemple · 19/12/2021 10:52

I’d love to know where these people get their information, is it YouTube, social media?
It’s similar to anti-mask people…stupid, and there’s no cure for that!
You just need to read the comments in the Daily Mail to realise it’s linked to intelligence.

howley1 · 19/12/2021 10:53

@madroid she thinks hospitals and the government are testing people to see who will survive the booster or not... she's obviously not in a mentally healthy state of mind. that's paranoia and needs help. there's also help available if you're paying privately, so since you don't know the financial status of the person I wouldn't just sit back and allow them to descend into a further crisis.

SoSickOfItNow · 19/12/2021 10:54

Unfortunately, there's no cure for stupid.

olderandwiserx · 19/12/2021 10:57

I'd ignore, sounds like she's trying to convince herself!

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 19/12/2021 10:57

I can't imagine ever being friends with someone like that in the first place but if they'd somehow managed to conceal their utter stupidity from me in the past I'd stop seeing them now

Who has time for idiots?

RockinHorseShit · 19/12/2021 11:01

Unfortunately I have experience of this & I have had to delete several once close old friends from my Facebook... don't want their barking mad thick as pig shit covid denial posts in my feed & don't want to see or speak to them until this is over. Especially not when they come out with crap like "follow the science, follow the science they say, yet it's never researched or studied & we're just expected to take whatever"Confused

One shocked me as I helped to set her up making & selling masks as her business was hit hard. I literally sent her a pack with everything she needed & she was doing well... I had no idea at that point she was a raving covidiot & antimaskerConfused

I've had to step away for my own sanity, friends & family working at all ends of the frontline of the pandemic & family dying of it means I have no time to waste on such offensive stupidity & don't want to hear it as once it comes out of your mouth, I can't forget you were that stupid & that nasty to say it. But hey, I'm a lefty doogooder Sheeple apparently 🙄

I've no idea if friendships will recover after this, I hope so, but feel very sad & frequently shocked about the behaviour I've seen from them, so who knows if we can look back & laugh at this in years to come. I hope so, but for my sake, for now at least I've shut the door on this friendships. I'd suggest you do the same

VictoryLap · 19/12/2021 11:04

@Ceramide

Ask her where she got her 'information' from. Memorise a few stats and facts and correct her.
I can almost guarantee it'll be from Facebook
MrsSkylerWhite · 19/12/2021 11:06

Would become a former friend.

chocolateoranges33 · 19/12/2021 11:07

Having covid right now, having had 2 jabs and missed my booster last week as my pcr was positive, I actually wouldnt be friends with someone as misguided as her in the first place.

RockinHorseShit · 19/12/2021 11:08

I can't imagine ever being friends with someone like that in the first place but if they'd somehow managed to conceal their utter stupidity from me in the past I'd stop seeing them now

Neither could I, but turns out I have once very close friends in this camp, one was always antivax & she has seen this as an opportunity to feed her ego & set herself up as some sort of guru & feeds BS to the rest of them. I thought them all to be very intelligent women, so I was shocked to be the only one that ripped the videos she sent me apart as obvious BS. Seems their intelligence doesn't run to basic science & in 40 years I somehow missed that.

It happens unfortunately, you're lucky if you haven't experienced it, it can be a shock to put it mildly

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 19/12/2021 11:12

“you’re starting to sound like one of those belmed-out unhinged antivax conspiraloons tee hee

RockinHorseShit · 19/12/2021 11:23

“you’re starting to sound like one of those belmed-out unhinged antivax conspiraloons tee hee”

I tried that, plus being very blunt about how offensive I found their stance considering the very frontline jobs other friends & family do. All it did was get me seen as poor deluded Rockin, so sucked in by the BS.

In my experience, there is no getting through & some of them just don't care about the actual truth, if it doesn't fit their barking mad plandemic agenda

I've tried everything, but was basically up against a cult think & there's just no getting through, so walked away for my sanity

alientome · 19/12/2021 11:28

Does anyone know the latest statistics regarding vaccinated /in vaccinated needing hospital admissions ?
Purely as I'm being lazy and not sure where to look for info

OP posts:
MrsSkylerWhite · 19/12/2021 11:30

Heard last night that in London, 90% unvaccinated (from Mayor’s office, I think).

Donotlie · 19/12/2021 11:47

She is not your friend. It is a personal choice, and none of her business.
