Have been close contact with so many people over the year and not caught and now, now of all times!
I have to self isolate until 28th December. Wont be able to see my parents or my eldest son. So sick of it all. Anyone else care to join me in my misery?

@EdinaMonsoon thank you so much - you are extremely kind .

This evening mums update is that she is responding well to treatment so far … it’s early days but we are trying to stay positive with this news ..
A very merry Christmas to you when it comes - take care .

One of my friends tested positive 2 days ago, she's a teacher, her dd and dh were tested today. My friend's school has had alot of positive cases among the children, so there'll be a good few isolating over Christmas. My friend is annoyed also because her taste buds are gone, she bit into an onion and couldn't taste anything, she's a big lover of Christmas Dinner. I'm just hoping they're OK as she was extremely ill after the vaccines. I hope you don't get too ill and are able to have some sort of Christmas.

VinoEsmeralda · 18/12/2021 20:08

Same here, dc2 and myself tested positive today. Both work in schools, typical!

bettertimesarecomingnow · 18/12/2021 20:11

So sorry to everyone who will have to isolate over Christmas.

I hope you can all all enjoy a cosy day eating chocolate and don't feel too poorly

I'm dreading work next week - got to go to three different primary schools before I finish for Xmas. Chances of making it out still negative?!?!

ScarlettDarling · 18/12/2021 20:18

Same here, dh got a positive on Friday. He’s isolating from us all in our bedroom so hopefully we won’t catch it from him. He’s not in the least poorly as of yet, so hoping he stays like this.

I’m so sad about our ruined Christmas plans but then I read @babbi ‘s post about her mum being hospitalised and I realised how much worse this could be. Hope your mum gets well soon @babbi

Crapslattern · 18/12/2021 20:20

Yep - both dcs. We're isolating till 27th. Total shit

Same here. DD tested positive again - had it 6 weeks ago. London so assume omicron. All I can hear is her coughing and my neighbour upstairs coughing with it too!

Tumbleweed101 · 18/12/2021 22:44

My daughter got a positive last Xmas. Luckily she works for NHS and had access to LFT before they were more widely available. she didn't have symptoms when she took the test and my mum with COPD would have visited for Xmas day.

Twice in 6 weeks Shock That's awful! How can you be sure it isn't still positive from the first time? Does she have new symptoms?

Just asking because I have it now and was hoping it at least meant I couldn't get it again for a few months...

Yip we’re in your boat! My partner has tested positive on two lateral flows today. He was only doing one because I was doing one to meet a friend later. It came up straight away and I ran out the room and shut the door, like the last however many hours/days with him don’t count 😂 We’ve all been for PCRs and I did our 4 month old too. Don’t know what my plan was but I thought it might be good to know if we’re negative and he’s positive. We have an empty flat that is usually rented out that my partner could potentially put a bed in and go and stay in so we have less chance of catching it off him but obviously now we’ve been contacts we’re in over Christmas regardless of what our tests say ☹️ Would actually be less stressful for us all just to come back positive then we can have a mini version of Christmas and all be together

sarah13xx · 18/12/2021 23:06

If we’re all positive I’m going to try and still make it like Christmas since it’s our baby’s first. I’ll get crackers and order nice cheeses (as long as we can still taste 😂). We were supposed to go to my mums so she’ll probably just do us a dinner and leave it on the doorstep. It really isn’t the end of the world, it’s what you make it. As long as everyone is feeling okay that’s the main thing! We’ll look back in 20 years and my son will say we were all isolating at his first Christmas 😂

InglouriousBasterd · 19/12/2021 00:14

@belimoo isn’t it?! She tested negative on lateral flows from a few days into her last infection, end of October. Today she sounded a little congested so I tested her and it came back positive - she’s got a cough now. Another child with now confirmed omicron came into school whilst waiting for a (positive, it turned out) PCR on Thursday so gather it’s that. She’s so upset - her second cancelled Christmas.

InglouriousBasterd · 19/12/2021 00:16

I very much hoped she would have some immunity against it!!

belimoo · 19/12/2021 07:55

@InglouriousBasterd Oh the poor thing, what rotten luck! I hope she feels better soon and you can enjoy some belated Christmas celebrations together.

explodingeyes · 19/12/2021 08:33

But you aren't supposed to test again for 90 days as it's very likely to still be positive regardless. Are you sure it's a second bout?
explodingeyes · 19/12/2021 08:38

I'm trying to work out in my head whether it's better if other child gets it sooner rather than later and one period of isolation for all, or try and avoid it. Adults triple jabbed so hoping that works. Daily LFT remain -ve but not done today's yet

InglouriousBasterd · 19/12/2021 10:19

It definitely is @explodingeyes, she’s coughing away now sadly. Very much new symptoms. The 90 day thing is so difficult- I was reluctant to test her because of it but I knew she had been exposed to omicron (child in her class) and we were seeing elderly grandparent and a newborn over Christmas, so considering her previous negatives I thought it was for the best.

liveforsummer · 19/12/2021 10:30

I think there were 90,000 new cases in the uk yesterday so you're far from alone. Of course it sucks though. I'm put of isolation today as a close contact of dc who both had it but I didn't catch it. I almost wish I had as now I'm still at risk while I finish my Xmas shopping in increasingly busy places. I'd have had it done ore the huge omicron spike if I hadn't been isolating for the last nearly 2 weeks
