Day 2 PCR test result never turned up, what to do?

I took a day 2 PCR test following travel the day I returned from a trip to see a close family member - that was Tuesday. The test was sent back by 24 hour priority post so the company should have had it by Wednesday and given me my result by Thursday (yesterday) at the latest. It still hasn't come through so I contacted the company who claim they haven't received my test back yet.
What should I do? I've taken several lateral flows and they've been negative. I've been self-isolaring at home but my dog needs to go out for a walk, and I have plans to see a friend for a walk outdoors this weekend. My friend lives alone and is struggling. What would you do?

I paid £55 for that test. It's so annoying!

It's probaby royal mail. I had a parcel sent tracked 24 on Wednesday morning. Its been sitting in a mail centre since Thursday morning and hasn't moved.
If you took note of the tracking info you should be able to see if it has arrived?

Frazzled2207 · 17/12/2021 22:22

I’d do an lft and assuming that’s clear and you’re feeling ok finish isolation

What a rip off

Tinysnickers · 17/12/2021 22:23

The rules are that you isolate until your negative test. If you think it's lost you can pay for another private one.

Tinysnickers · 17/12/2021 22:24

What I think of the rules is another matter Wink

NotJustACigar · 17/12/2021 22:31

Unfortunately I didn't keep a note of the tracking information - and I'm kicking myself for it

You have done your bit don't worry about it. You sound like an honest decent person doing extra LF.
You paid for your test- leave it now, take your poor little dog for a lovely walk in the morning.
(And certainly don't listen to the other poster saying pay for an additional private test)

I’ve had a similar problem because my kit for the home test had not arrived (and it hasn’t arrived yet, after 17days, but it’s by these bastards of Expert Medicals so my mistake for ordering from them and not my usual…). I’ve ordered another one from another supplier as soon as I realised that there’d be a problem and asked a refund via the credit card- in my case it was possible because the kit really was never shipped. In your case…I think you have the choice of going for a pcr at a walk in (in the past that was the advice given by 119 in this situation) but right now I’d avoid it, there’s people who need it more than you. I’d do LfTs in abundance, and think that there’s a higher chance of catching covid in the U.K. right now than abroad…

There have been drama with a lot of the private companies! Blaming Royal Mail when surely they could use a different courier, with all the money they charge! I'll be doing a dive through PCR when I get back as well as sending off the 'official' one, I won't be waiting around!

tumpymummy · 18/12/2021 01:34

Noone's going to check up on you. I'd do daily lateral flows and leave the house if you're negative. If PCR testing centres near you aren't too busy get an NHS one. You've shelled out for a private one already, so I wouldn't worry.

After being told dd result was lost from Tuesday we recieved the results at 2am. So hang on in there.

Timeisavirtue · 18/12/2021 06:58

I meant to say 2am this morning

NotJustACigar · 18/12/2021 08:35

Well, I emailed yesterday late afternoon demanding a refund for my test kit and I've just found my results are ready this morning - negative Smile. Coincidence or ??????
