DH still positive on LFT day 14. Still contagious?

We've been sleeping separately since he tested positive. I've stayed negative despite him and the DC having it (he was the last one to catch it out of all of them). Will it be safe to share a bed now? I don't want to catch it after managing to avoid it for so long.....

You're not meant to test either lft or PCR for 90 days after a positive result as it can give false positives. If he's symptomatic still then best stay away. If hes not you are prob ok.

My partner was testing positive for four months (Pcr tests as she is a nurse so had to have a negative one before returning to work)

We carried on as normal, I was allowed back to work (I’m a teacher)

Sorry - doesn’t answer your question but testing positive for a while is not uncommon

PotteringAlong · 17/12/2021 17:33

Stop testing! Complexly unreliable for 3 months. It’s fine after 10 days.

Moolia · 17/12/2021 17:34

That's not true. You're not meant to do LFTs for 90 days but if you have new symptoms you need to get a PCR.

TheVampiresWife · 17/12/2021 17:35

DH tested positive on LFT for almost two months!

You're not meant to test for 90 days after isolation ends.

Shouldbedoing · 17/12/2021 17:36

If he has no fever, no gut symptoms (and I think no headache) he is no longer contagious after 10 days

Whatdoyawannado · 17/12/2021 17:40

We only did one because I'm unsure as to whether to let him back in with me or not. He's still got an occasional cough but fine otherwise. I don't think going to feel comfortable sharing a bed while he's still got detectable virus up his nose......

The cough and loss of taste/smell can last along time after the 10 days. He's done his time after 10 days.

ivykaty44 · 17/12/2021 17:49

no gut symptoms

What gut symptoms- haven’t seen that before?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 17/12/2021 17:49

No, he is not still contagious. It picks up DEAD viruses. You can test positive up to 90 days after so it's utterly pointless doing tests.

Sunnydaymum · 17/12/2021 17:53

If the LFT shows as negative after 6 days in isolation-does this mean you are no longer contagious? Just checking as this is the case in our house. 2 out of the 4 of us are positive and we are trying to work out when it will be safe enough to stop wearing masks around the house.

Happymum12345 · 17/12/2021 17:57

I tested positive on lft when I had covid for about a week (positive pcr too) then after a week lft we’re negative. This was the same with dd.

Franklin12 · 17/12/2021 18:02

So DH got covid confirmed during a PCR test. He then tried a LFT about 14 days later. He was negative. We are due to go on holiday mid Jan.

There isn’t a chance it could change to positive could it as we need a LFT to return to the UK.

PotteringAlong · 17/12/2021 19:02

You don’t have to share a bed with him if you’re not comfortable. But if you’re basing it on tests then you could be on the sofa until March;

AD80 · 17/12/2021 19:07

You can test positive for ages. He doesn't need to keep testing!
