Sore armpit after Pfizer booster?

MsVillanelle · 17/12/2021 17:23

Hello Mumsnetters,

Just wondering if anyone else has been suffering with this since having their booster jab? Having had my two AZ jabs earlier this year, I had Pfizer booster 2 days ago and since then my armpit (on the side I was jabbed on obviously) is sore and a bit swollen. I was anticipating the actual jab site to be a bit sore (which it is), but actually the armpit feeling is worse. I know this may be due to swollen lymph nodes etc, but am just a bit worried? Have had a few friends diagnosed with breast cancer over the last couple of years, so quite jumpy about it all. Has anyone else had this as the main side effect of the booster and if so, how long did the problem last for you? Need a bit of reassurance! Thanks in advance for any help or advice x

My sister had this. It lasted about 3 weeks then just stopped hurting. It’s quite common apparently.

ItsSnowJokes · 17/12/2021 17:24

Yes this is a very common side effect. It's the lymph nodes reacting to the vaccine. I had like a third boob growing out of my pit and it was so painful and sore.

It goes within about 7-10 days.

SleighbellsZ · 17/12/2021 17:27

Yes, a lot of my friends currently experiencing this with the booster

DramaAlpaca · 17/12/2021 17:29

Yes, two of my friends have had this side effect. It lasted about a week for both of them.

Mumteedum · 17/12/2021 17:30

Yes I had it. It's gone after a week

Angel2702 · 17/12/2021 17:50

Yes lasted around 4 days. Same for DH.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 17/12/2021 17:54

Yes, I've got this. They certainly never warned me about it!

Franca123 · 17/12/2021 18:06

I have this now! Started on one side but now it's both!!!! Feel quite sluggish.

aloysiusflyte · 17/12/2021 18:10

Yes I'm the same! Astra zenica for the first two jabs, Pfizer on Wednesday and now my armpit is sore and a bit swollen. Hoping it will go down soon but I read online it can take 7-10 days.

ItsSnowJokes · 17/12/2021 18:10

Please can people yellow card the side effects they have had. Not many people do this and that is why people aren't warned.

Yep, another 3rd boob here for a couple of weeks!

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 17/12/2021 18:11

Yes I had a massive lump in my armpit and immediately assumed I gad cancer...as you do. Luckily got medical advice and it is a side effect of the booster.

BitterTits · 17/12/2021 18:13

I have the same, as did my (much) younger sister and some colleagues.

angelaEhen · 17/12/2021 18:13

Yes I had this, I had same vaccines as you. It felt sore just to put roll on deodorant on. Lasted about 4-5 days

thedefinitionofmadness · 17/12/2021 18:15

Yes - got this right now - Pfizer boosted on Monday.
Quite tender and swollen, as is upper arm

ItsSnowJokes · 17/12/2021 18:30

In America they advise not to have a mammogram for 6 weeks after vaccination as they were getting so many reports come back with enlarged nodes that they went in to biopsy and realised it was the vaccine.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 17/12/2021 18:41

I had it and had 2xAZ before a pfizer booster too.
It should go in 5 or 6 days.

mummyof2boys30 · 17/12/2021 18:57

Yes got Pfizer on Tuesday and swollen armpit which is sore. Slightly improved today so hoping doesn't last too long. Didnt have this 1st two times

AnxiousMess21 · 17/12/2021 18:58

I've just had an ultrasound of my armpit as I got this along with a lump in my breast. All fine and the consultant said I was the third woman that morning with the same thing!

Bubblty · 17/12/2021 18:59

Normal

Winterlove · 17/12/2021 19:03

I have this too. I got 3 doses of Pfizer and had it after dose 2 and 3. It lasted a week or so I’m sure.

Amortentia · 17/12/2021 19:06

I had the same, bloody sore. The leaflet I got ( NHS Scotland) said this was a possibility and not to go for a mammogram for at least 6 weeks.

RenegadeMrs · 17/12/2021 19:14

I had modern and I had this. Only painful for a bit but could see swelling for about 6 weeks! Gone now.

InaccurateDream · 17/12/2021 19:16

Did anyone else get swollen neck glands too? I got sore arm AND neck glands, they've gone down today, six days after, but i was freaking out a bit as didn't know anyone else who had it.

MerchSwyddEfrog · 17/12/2021 19:33

I’ve had this for 9 days so far. The swelling has gone down a lot but I’m still getting pain which runs down my arm. At one point the swelling in my underarm was the size of an orange! I had az 1st and 2nd doses.
