Has anyone tested positive after day 10 of households isolation!?

Hi All,

I already have a thread posted earlier this week regarding household transmission.
Basically my youngest tested positive last Monday-now out of isolation.
My eldest tested positive last Friday-isolation ends Monday for him.
Me and DH have been negative throughout with LFT and PCRs.
I was poorly Tuesday evening and Wednesday with flu like symptoms, weak and lethargic, no appetite, cold and hot and a bad stomach. That passed by Wednesday afternoon! PCR Tuesday was negative.
I've had headaches on and off and a weird sensation in my throat for days with a lot of mucus stuff (sorry tmi) no cough or anything.
I now have Christmas things and lots of fun things for us to do next week so I'm really hoping this is it now and me and DH are safe.
Has anyone else tested positive from day 8 onwards?

Yep. On day 8 I got a positive lft.

PeonyRose80 · 17/12/2021 12:36

Yep day 10 here. Remember 10 mins after your recent PCR the viral load could be enough to test positive even if the PCR is negative on that occasion- it just captures a moment in time. It totally sucks

Oh my how horrid that must have been for you both- I really thought we were safe now.
All my laterals have been negative everyday.
Can I ask did you guys have any symptoms prior and was it lateral flows that gave you the positives? They were great for the children but dont have much faith in them!

A friend of mine's mother (whom she lives with) tested positive; then after 9 days of testing negative, on day 10 my friend tested positive.

If your pcr was taken on Tuesday but you were ill Wednesday, it may have been worth doing another pcr ?

Mokoloko · 17/12/2021 13:39

@claireymrsd
Well I was poorly Tuesday evening so it surely would of picked up on it if it was that? Plus lateral flows not a hint of a line!

I had a positive LF two days after a negative PCR. LF came up within seconds, very strong line.

Mokoloko · 17/12/2021 14:13

@Amberflames
Was there any build up in the line from the day before? My eldest was faint then the next day very strong
Mine are complete negatives x

I was the same last week. Dp had covid and I had symptoms but was testing negative but tested positive at the weekend. Not sure if I had covid earlier and the tests weren't picking it up or it was another virus. I tested positive a few days later. Was positive on lft before pcr which is bizarre!!

Also, Dd tested positive at the end of Dp's isolation period 10 days after exposure . But she could have caught it off me or Ds at a later point but it was 10 days after first exposure from Dp.

I tested positive 8 days after Dp but as above I could have had it days earlier.

@AD80
Wow that's interesting!
I am sneezy and headache (again) today and neck hurts for the 3rd day now.
Perhaps just a cold!
How long did you have symptoms before positive LFT?
