Anyone caught covid twice? Is that possible?

Had it in September and now I have a feeling I might have it again. I’m waiting for test.

I thought it was impossible to get it twice? Symptoms aren’t as bad as last time but apparently omicron has more mild symptoms.

I’m just out of iso from my 3rd bout of covid. First time I didn’t know, tested positive for antibodies in autumn last year, then tested pos on a PCR at Christmas 2020, then again last week. I’m triple vaxxed also, January, March and September.

Yeah. Sorry 😞

PermanentTemporary · 16/12/2021 22:24

I had it in April 2020 (presumably Alpha), September 2021 (presumably Delta) and expect to get Omicron at some point. I'm triple jabbed but because I work on the wards my first jab was early, dec 2020.

TheVampiresWife · 16/12/2021 22:29

DH and I had it in March 2020, both quite ill, especially DH. Then again in September this year, both double jabbed and asymptomatic.

It's supposed to be unusual to catch it twice (pre-Omicron anyway) but I know of lots of people who have, and lots have on MN too.

I had it in April 2020 (presumably Alpha)

Alpha was the variant which emerged in Kent in late 2020 and caused the Christmas/January wave. In April 2020 it would've been original Wuhan covid.

Ah! 'Classic' perhaps Grin

Will it become a collectible item? ;-) “I’ve had 5 strains!” “Ah, ma cherie, I’ve had the original!” And whoever got the Greek letters than nobody knows about (who got the Beta??) gets extra point?

I’ve just had it for a second time. 14 months apart. Last time pre vaccination. Teacher so inevitable really. .

MissMarpleRocks · 16/12/2021 22:49

I know quite a few who have it again but this time have done a couple of LFT. They are not doing pcr as they can’t be bothered to deal with track & trace & have notified contacts themselves & are isolating.

I have tried to persuade to do pcr so government can do sequencing & find out more about it but apart from 1 person all are adamant they won’t do one 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pensieve · 16/12/2021 22:49

Yes very possible. One theory is the severity has been much lower in South Africa as so many people have had at least 1 variant infection. I know of a person who has had it 3 times with 3 different variants (not in the UK).

Pensieve · 16/12/2021 22:50

@cherin 😂

ilovebagpuss · 16/12/2021 22:54

I’ve had it 3 times I’m going for 4 bound to get omicron at some point. Work in Care so maybe exposed more.
