Your experience of Omicron?

youretwistingmymelonman · 16/12/2021 18:38

I can't be sure, obviously, but I'm pretty sure I had/have Omicron.

I got it in central london within the last week and within two days everyone I saw in the office had it, and then family also have/had it.

I don't want to jinx it but it was 3 days of feeling rotten and that's it.

No usual symptoms of Covid.

Not sure if that gives hope to those of you who are/were, like me, petrified.

Sorry no one responded to you. I hope you’re feeling better now. I tested positive today. I used one LFT from one batch and negative. However, seeing as I began feeling unwell when the only person I saw informed me they tested positive I decided to use a test from ones I received recently. This came back positive.

I wanted to ask what your symptoms were and how long they lasted? Reason being I’m feeling pretty crap and I have a 4 month old baby to take care of.

Hi @PurpleRayne89, I know you didn’t ask me but I thought I might be helpful. My son tested positive last week. He felt like he had mild flu for a couple of days and then felt better from about day three. He has been hiding in his room trying not to pass it on so has done nothing strenuous for the week though. DH started feeling a little rough on Tuesday. His is like a very heavy head cold. Again he hasn’t felt too bad but has mainly rested.
Hopefully you will only have a couple of days of feeling a bit rotten 🤞

PurpleRayne89 · 06/01/2022 17:07

Hey @Crocky thanks for responding. I guess I’m a bit anxious, mainly for my baby. Fingers crossed it goes this week. I hope you all feel much better 😊

Midnight0 · 06/01/2022 17:09

Im on day 5 and have had no symptoms apart from a light headache one day, my husband on the other hand had a very bad cold ish symptoms for 7 days

JustHereWithPopcorn · 06/01/2022 17:12

I had it over Xmas. At first I thought I was absolutely fine with it, just a sore slightly runny nose and I was tired a lot. Apart from that I was fine. Two weeks later it seems like my immune system is at an all time low which is really unlike me and I have picked up bug after bug constantly Sad feeling rotten post-covid.

DrivingHomeChristmas · 06/01/2022 17:15

6 of us have had it in our family. We are all as vaccinated as we can be fir our ages. It’s been worse for the older ones, and much milder for the children. The tiredness is the biggest issue. I’m out of isolation now but still not well enough for work, but will be by Monday I should think. My lateral flow is still positive on day 12.

Richtea2 · 07/01/2022 10:21

I have tested positive this morning. Waiting on PCR test.
I feel like I got a bad cold and horrible cough.

youretwistingmymelonman · 08/01/2022 20:52

Sorry I didn't respond! Too late now!

I had 3 days of feeling rotten and a headache and wheezy chest but no proper cough but capabale of a couple of zoom work calls and then back to bed. Fine on day 4/5/6 but needing to take it easy. Weirdly day 12/13 wheezy chest came back for two days but might have over done it as had been let out on day 10.

Hope you all feel better. I dare to say it but it was no worse than a horrid cold. Good luck!

@youretwistingmymelonman hey OP. Thanks for getting back. Glad you’re feeling better and on the road to recovery. I’m day 4 today. I just feel unwell, mainly a sore throat but just not with it if that makes sense. It’s just difficult to care for an exclusively breastfed 4 month old baby when sick under any circumstances to be fair. Means I don’t get much rest to recover. I’m hoping this feeling subsides over the next day or so.

I’ve used my asthma pump a few times today also and will start to use my preventer tomorrow. Also taking extra strength vitamin d.

youretwistingmymelonman · 08/01/2022 21:10

Oh dear, poor you. It’s very hard. Do you have anyone who can help with the baby?

The spaced out stuff is quite disconcerting. I would retreat to bed with the baby. Can you put some mindless sounds and shapes type of TV on for them that might give you a few minutes here and there?

DS had it - he tested because a close friend of his tested positive. He was achy and tired for a couple of days and had cold symptoms and a cough for a day or two, but generally felt well enough to constantly face time me from his bedroom for cups of tea and snacks .
No one else in the house got it. DS was double jabbed as were the other kids. DH snd I had had put boosters the week before. DS is early 20s.

MyComputerGetsSadWithoutMe · 08/01/2022 21:18

I sneezed a lot

BELLAARA · 08/01/2022 21:36

Hello all, I've got it now-day 3. I presume it's Omicron due to case rates 'ere and the fact I have none of the 'traditional' 3 symptoms. Feels like a cold to me- but I always ache and feel tired with them. Not sure if I feel a bit worse now I have a positive result, or if it's just the way it goes.

Hope everyone feeling rough feels better soon. Interesting to hear about +ve tests on day 12... Yikes

Cheesywhine · 08/01/2022 22:02

I had an aching neck and shoulders.
Then a headache like a hangover which wouldn’t shift.
Very tired as if I’d taken a sleeping tablet.
Brain fog.
Blue circulation issue to legs
No cough, no loss of taste, no fever.

Functioned perfectly well until I tested positive. I didn’t have lateral flow tests for first two days.

Age 31 and triple vaccinated. Caught on overseas trip.

foxgoosefinch · 08/01/2022 22:04

I had it over Christmas, mild symptoms for 3-5 days, tested negative again on days 6-7, but about ten days on like a pp said, I’m still feeling below par and really fatigued, just when I think I’m better the symptoms pop up again for a while. Have had to have naps in the day and today went to sleep for several hours on the sofa with sore neck glands. It’s a persistent bloody thing, I’ll give it that!

Groovee · 08/01/2022 22:08

Dh a sniffle. Tested negative on LFT positive on the PCR.
Dd work PCR picked up the positive. Developed a cough a few days later.
Ds had a day of feeling odd but fine by the next day. His sisters PCR result made him test on a LFT which came up positive. His PCR then came up positive.
DD's boyfriend. Developed a chesty cold with a cough and positive PCR but not on the LFT.

I didn't catch it despite being exposed to all 4.

VAM24 · 08/01/2022 22:16

Minor cough/prickly throat for my husband and I. 11 month old caught it too and she's been quite poorly with it but nothing too serious.

Bagelsandbrie · 08/01/2022 22:21

Dh and I have it, we are on day 6 ish. He’s 35 and I’m 41. I’m in the clinically extremely vulnerable group and have been triple jabbed. Dh was actually worse than me initially - we both did a pcr test on the same day but whilst waiting did lfts and his were positive from the start, mine only went positive yesterday. Both pcrs came back positive. I just feel a bit flu ish and tickly chest. I have triple my steroids (which I take for Addison’s disease - which I’m supposed to do with covid- and just hope I don’t get any worse!

greenweepingwillow · 09/01/2022 08:45

I had it over christmas. Positive lft on Chritmas eve, positive pcr on Christmas day. Days 3-4 were the worst for me, achey, nausea, no apetite, back pain, fatigue, loss of smell and taste. gradula improvement fro day 5. LFT only turned negative on day 8 though.
But- as otheres have siad even now on day 16 Im still not totally right. Still very tired easily, sleep pattern all over the place, odd dreams, last night woke up at 1am feeling very sick again.....sort of hits me in waves every now and then. Im back at work, and functionaing as previously, but definitely not toally right.
I caught it 2 days after my booster - so probably had no protection from that yet, and my second jab (astra zeneca) was back in April - so I possibly had very little, if any protection from vaccinations at the point at which I cuaght it.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 09/01/2022 08:55

I just had a sore throat and a slight headache for a day. I thought I was hungover (maybe I was actually hungover, and the omicron was asymptomatic, who knows) until I did the test.

No lasting effects for me.
