Has anyone had this...
No symptoms, I've taken 6 lateral flow tests today and they've been positive, negative, positive (very faint), negative, negative and negative!
I've ordered a PCR test and isolating but wondering how on earth I've got such inconsistent results!

That’s really weird! I tested positive today and both my lines are very clear and crisp compared with your positive one

I think false positives are very rare on LFTs but false negatives are really common, so I would say you have almost definitely got covid.

Why didn't you just book a PCR after the first one instead of waste 5 more tests?

I think the newer LFTs have clearer positive lines (from what I have seen on peoples FB posts of their 'oh no.....' positive test photos )

No wonder people can't get hold of these tests when other people are using six in a single day.
When the first one was positive why did you do 5 more?

Like I've said, I've ordered a PCR test. Surely it's human nature to double or triple check it as it's hard to believe when I haven't any symptoms. And yes I'm aware that many people are asymptomatic!

I reckon positive, BUT had you just eaten before the first? Some foods can send them positive.

Are you on antibiotics?? We've had 2 people at work test positive on lateral flows then negative on PCR...they were both on antibiotics.

But make sure you isolate until you have done PCR and got a negative result

Your viral load is higher first thing in the morning, you first strong positive, then it wanes over the course of the day. The PCR is far more sensitive and will give you a definitive positive or negative. Really no need to do several more over the day

I have a problem with the LFTs, and have had a number of faint positives over the last few months. None of them were confirmed with a pcr (and no symptoms at all).
There’s a thread about it on mumsnet, some people seem to get faint positives a lot, sometimes linked with acid reflux, but I’ve no evidence for that, just speculation.

So this is why there's a shortage!!!

There have been people on MN proudly saying that they/their mother/whoever has been ordering a box every day in case they are no longer free or run out. Blame them.

Also, I ordered a box online on Wednesday morning with no problem whatsoever.

Have you not seen there’s a shortage? People are struggling to get them including us.

There isn’t a shortage of LFTs - it’s actually the ordering system that has crashed, that’s why you’re getting that message.

And before you ask, two of my kids work in the NHS, in different hospitals, and loads of friends, and this what they have been told by management.
