Who knows they are going to catch new variant?

I know my family will. We live in an area where cases are soaring at the moment. Unless we all avoided everyone outside the house from now until the end of January, I am sure we will catch it.
I hope it is milder than Delta as it took me quite a while to get over Delta.

Suspect I already have it .. Dd tested positive on LFT on Tuesday - still waiting for PCR results and daily LFTs for rest of the family .. it feels inevitable!

I don't know. I have managed not to get covid so far. Dc and dh had delta in summer. Dc are in different schools, Dh and ds are testing daily because they were close contacts. Let's see.

I work out of the home, have school age DS and socialise a lot which I do not plan to reduce, I have meals booked out and the panto between now and Christmas. Then we go to Butlins for new year all being well, travelling on the train. So I'm highly likely to catch it.

I had Delta in August, I'm surprised I didn't catch it before then.

None of us have had Covid despite a child in nursery and DH working in a school. We've also not been especially cautious - we didn't throw raves in lockdown or anything but have always done as much socialising as the regulations at the time allowed. I feel that our luck will inevitably run out. I'm hoping to get through Christmas, but am resigned to the fact we may not!

I had the Kent varient in January (doesn't the Kent version feel so long ago now).

I'm really hoping horribly symptomatic Covid, followed by 2 x AZ vaccinations followed by a Pfizer booster get us through this.

DH's job is high risk - hence us all catching it in January.

It's the uncertainty that I struggle with and the worry about making sure my elderly mum is ok and not lonely whilst also trying to keep her safe. My mental resilience to all this is definitely straining now.

Soon I guess, but hopefully the vaccine will do it's stuff.

... and now my three year old has Covid! I guess me of two days ago was wise to be resigned to it!

I hear ya @HardbackWriter. I tweeted something flippant about inevitably getting covid for Christmas on Friday.

Guess what happened today Xmas Hmm
