Pure curiosity; I'm wondering what people suspect will be the situation with universities in January?

Interesting. We've found our students are not too bothered about going online for a week or two if the rest of the term is f2f, it's better than having nothing at all and having to cram the work later.

I fully agree

I'd much rather have online teaching than no teaching. Still dithering at our place. Exams have moved online.

Both mine are back in the next couple of weeks.

DS1 - all online, but it's a STEM subject which is easily done this way. He's not too bothered, but still goes onto campus to work, so not having lectures is a bit meaningless when they're all mixing anyway!

DS2 - a hands on humanities subject - has been promised F2F with possibility of lectures going online, depending on the situation.
Isn't bothered as his lectures are 9 am and it means he can get up later!

My friend's uni has been open every moment possible. Thankfully they have online recordings of classes she's just about getting by on. But so much is missed because it's not formally online. Too many students complain they can't work online so they're not changing

It's tricky - I wonder how clinically vulnerable students are expected to cope.

CV mature student here. Feel really worried about going back but have been told if I'm that "anxious" about covid maybe I should take a leave of absence Hmm. If attendance falls below 80% we also get a stern talking to.

That sounds awful. Can the NUS do anything to help? Students shouldn't be in that position.
