Me and dd going for her birthday next week to see frozen/do Hyde park etc. How busy is it currently (if you live there or have been in the center recently)? I don’t think it will be locked down or I hope not anyhow!

I work evenings and weekends and my colleagues and I have never seen it so busy on Saturdays/Sundays. Heaving!
Busy pubs/restaurants etc. it seems busier than pre Covid.

WheelieBinPrincess · 15/12/2021 17:51

Very busy, which is great for the pubs and restaurants and the theatre.

Gingerbreadhoose · 15/12/2021 17:53

Pretty much as busy as it gets, which is to say it is rammed.

FKATondelayo · 15/12/2021 17:54

I was out shopping Oxford St yesterday. Very busy and festive and lovely.

thewhatsit · 15/12/2021 17:58

Standing room only on the train on the weekend. It actually made me a bit teary. I’ve been so worried about the restaurants and pubs and theatres and the weekend gave me some hope.
I’m wondering if it will get quieter now on though.

Flowerlane · 15/12/2021 17:58

Was in London Saturday afternoon/evening just gone it was packed. Literally buzzing. We had a brilliant time. Thinking of going back again this weekend.

HelloMissus · 15/12/2021 17:59

I was in a bar earlier and every table was full or reserved.
We had to stand.

Westfacing · 15/12/2021 18:03

I live here - it's busy and buzzing and you and DD will be fine! Xmas Smile

HollyBollyBooBoo · 15/12/2021 18:11

Going against the grain, I thought High St Ken was v quiet today.

LesLavandes · 15/12/2021 18:12

I was in West End yesterday and it was very very busy

bluechameleon · 15/12/2021 18:15

It's not back to previous levels during the week but I'd say at weekends it is just as busy as it ever was.

Luredbyapomegranate · 15/12/2021 18:16

West end -
Busy-ish at the weekends
Quieter than usual in the week daytime

Glugglejug · 15/12/2021 18:51

@HollyBollyBooBoo are you joking? I was literally just there and it was rammed.

Flowerpower23 · 15/12/2021 18:53

In London and was busy over the weekend. There has been a definite tide change over the last few days. Many colleagues/friends are cancelling to avoid isolating over Christmas. Quite a few local restaurants/businesses have shut due to covid or scaling back the service.

peterpointerpickedapeck · 15/12/2021 19:00

We went to see Frozen last week on a weekday, after the play we went to Covent Garden to eat followed by Carnaby Street, Liberty and Hamleys. It was busy but definitely not heaving.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 16/12/2021 07:58

Sadly not a joking matter @Glugglejug, store sales and footfall counter show we're nowhere near where we thought we'd be. That was at lunchtime though so great news if it picked up in the afternoon!

Whistleforthechoir · 16/12/2021 08:03

I was there with my DD last weekend. Saturday morning wasn't as busy as I expected. We were at a matinee in the afternoon. The evening and Sunday were very busy. Nice busy though, not being pushed along in a crowd.

I was pleased to see everyone behaving normally and not cowering at home.

Snowywintersundays123 · 16/12/2021 08:05

I’d make sure you’ve booked places to eat @Flowerpower23 when we went a few weeks ago everywhere was fully booked (we had booked thankfully). No restaurants were taking walk ins so it’s wise to book!

Pamsresearch · 16/12/2021 08:07

I was in Leicester Square the weekend before last and it was heaving, as busy as I've ever seen it.

I was there last night, admittedly mid week and that makes a difference, but it was almost earily quiet for a week before Christmas.

I got bargain last minute tickets for one of the big shows and there were lots of empty seats.

marsdon · 16/12/2021 08:10

I live in the West End. It's still very busy. Especially around late afternoon and evening lots of ppl in Black cabs yesterday standing in the middle of Regent St blocking traffic getting there photos taken with the Christmas Lights .
Oxford St packed yesterday with Christmas Shoppers . Restaurant's / Bars seemed to be full with ppl going for nights out

KatyRebecca84 · 16/12/2021 09:00

We have a family wedding in Chelsea and traveling on train.. dreading it being packed as seems just stupid to risk being poorly before Xmas!!

Flowerpower23 · 16/12/2021 10:17

Thank you snowy I will do that now! I’ve booked one for the Thursday but not weds!
