Missed vaccination in school by being 11 at the time. Can't book a first dose on the website (chucks me out at DoB). Is walk-in the only option?

Many schools are planning a second round in the new year. as well as the under 12s there were many unable to have it due to recent covid infection. I'm aware of one centre here locally that will jab u16s, not sure what the appointment process is - it might be walk in.

Get your GP to book it at one of the vaccination centres, we did this with my son when the school team didn’t have the patience or skill to do him. He has special needs, so don’t know if that makes a difference, but I don’t see why they won’t book it if the child is eligible, (which they are at 12).

You need to contact the schools immunisation dept for your area. I was at the vaccination centre having my own booster and no one there knew the answer. They gave me their booking line which I called and he didn't know either!

Thankfully school had a link to a website which allowed me to book. But I had to travel 50mins away!
I was told they weren't going back into schools. This may change now they are supposed to be having second doses of course.

This is interesting, I have been unable to get my 12 year old done because the team that came into school ran out of doses on two occasions and we can’t book anything nearer or sooner than the next county in January and there are no local walk ins that will do kids.
It has made me pretty ragey when Boris talks about getting 12-15 year olds their second dose - first would be nice!

If anyone is looking for 12-15's in Somerset you can get them vaccinated at the motor museum near Yeovil (which is also interesting to visit btw)

BlueChampagne · 16/12/2021 16:14

Aww CountessofFitzdotterel where are you? Hope something comes up soon. Pretty much anything Johnson says gets me ragey!

Does anyone know how much protection there is after 1 dose of Pfizer against omnicron? My daughter has had 1 dose, she is 12 like the OP's son.

Thanks BlueChampagne x

We are North Yorkshire. Have been offered Hull and Middlesbrough. It’s a big county! Grin
