Pfizer booster

Firstly I don't want this to put anyone off getting the booster and even though I feel rough, I do not regret having it!

I have long Covid - manageable. I had the booster yesterday - all fine. Started work at home on the computer and by 11am I had to crawl into bed. Every inch of my body aches head to toe and I feel pretty awful. I also keep crying it's like it's triggered how bad I was when I first got COVID.

Did anyone else feel like this? How long did it last for? X

It's not unusual to have flu like symptoms after the covid vaccines - these are all listed in the leaflets you are given and at least in my case the vaccinator also mentioned it. I'm sorry you're feeling poorly but I'm surprised anyone is surprised about side effects when it's been talked about for over a year now... It's totally normal and expected.

You can take paracetamol to help with the side effects.

Mummytotwonow · 14/12/2021 12:22

Yes, I read the leaflets and they always lost side effects. I never had any side effects after my previous jabs. Everyone I know who has had the booster hasn't had any side effects so I'm just wondering how long for those that did it lasted for.

I was shattered for about a week after my booster. It can knock you for six. I hope you feel better soon.

FreeBritnee · 14/12/2021 12:25

Yes I had this after my first jab. Felt like crap for two weeks. I’m absolutely fine now though.

Nesbo · 14/12/2021 12:37

I’ve had 2 x AZ and 1 x Pfizer booster and the impact has diminished with each injection. The last one was just a sore arm for a couple of days. People seem to react so differently.

Mummytotwonow · 14/12/2021 12:40

Thanks for the replies. I stupidly thought I would be ok as I was fine with my first two jabs. Hopefully I'll feel a bit better soon x

I had 2 Pfizer's and my booster was Moderna. Been feeling shite since. It's wiped out my Vit D too.

JohnDoe2021 · 14/12/2021 12:48

I had Phizer booster after 2x Merderna and its wiped me out too.

PinkPlantCase · 14/12/2021 12:50

Hi OP I had my booster yesterday and am also very achey and generally knackered today.

I’ve been napping when my baby naps 🤣

I didn’t really have any side effects after my other but I am also fighting a cold so that doesn’t help either.

Cherrytart23 · 14/12/2021 12:59

I heard if booster is a different vaccine to first and second then side effects are worse.

WB205020 · 14/12/2021 13:15

I had 2 AZ and my booster next Monday. the 2nd AZ jab was fine. Didnt even get a sore arm. The first jab.......holy shit it wiped me out for a week nearly. I had all the symptoms you could possibly imagine plus some. I was broken after that one where as everyone else in my family and friends who had AZ didnt really react or they were fine 24 / 36 hours later. Everyone is different at the end of the day but i do wonder how i will react next week though!

thisgirlcan79 · 14/12/2021 13:52

OP I feel your pain, sorry to hear you're struggling.

I had my Pfizer booster yesterday at midday and feel absolutely pants now. My body aches, my eyes ache, awful headache, tired.

I had both Pfizer for 1 & 2 vaccines and didn't feel like this with those at all - had a sore arm for a day but was fine.

Really hope you feel better soon

I had an awful time with my first AZ too, then the same symptoms but milder and over quicker with the second.

I had my Moderna booster yesterday and went to bed with the sick bucket next to the bed and painkillers and rehydration sachets on standby. Slept like a baby and this morning I feel fine. I’m tired (just tired, not exhausted), my arms and legs feel a bit ‘heavy’, but I’m fine. Oh, and my arm is a bit sore. That’s it. I could honestly cry with relief.

Not sure if it’s the different vaccine, the fact it’s round 3 now and my body is used to it, or the fact that the others were mid-cycle and yesterday’s was day 2 of my cycle.

Just one person’s experience, but it might give some of you hope.

Thank you so much for all of your replies. I really appreciate it x

I reacted to my first (AZ) but nothing at all from my third of Pfizer. Be interesting to see how I am with my booster I guess

littleowls83 · 14/12/2021 14:32

I had an hour of violently shaking and being freezing cold about 12 hours after my second Pfizer jab, and tired for a couple of days. Nothing after the first one.

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 14/12/2021 14:37

Felt like shite after AZ jab one
Fine after jab 2
Had my Pfizer booster last week and am still feeling ill - high temp and shivers for two days then tiredness

EileenGC · 14/12/2021 14:40

I just had the Pfizer booster this morning and had no effects for the first two… also Pfizer. But now dreading this one Grin

I’m working 9am-7pm tomorrow and then 9am-11pm on Thursday, so I’m really hoping tomorrow isn’t worse. I’m already a bit achy around my neck and back, but haven’t had the usual headache I got with the others yet straight away.

tunnocksreturns2019 · 14/12/2021 14:42

I had mine on Sunday, really swollen painful lymph nodes. Wasn’t expecting that as I’d had headaches with AZ. Hope everyone feels better soon Flowers

TokyoSushi · 14/12/2021 14:45

I had my Pfizer booster on Thursday, was great until Saturday and have had a horrific headache ever since. Hopefully it shifts soon!

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 14/12/2021 14:52

Has anyone had a really sore throat after their Pfizer booster? Or should I get a test? I haven't had this with the previous AZ vaccines? I had my booster Sunday and suddenly developed a really sore throat last night.

JS87 · 14/12/2021 15:38

How did you find out it wiped your vitamin D? Did you have it tested pre and post booster? I’m wondering if I should take some vitamin d after my booster.
Wallywobbles · 14/12/2021 20:12

No I recognize my symptoms. I'm in France and we have serious vit D doses so I popped to the chemist at lunch time and took a donkey dose.

That sense of fatigue has largely lifted already.

Pfizer booster
SoftSheen · 14/12/2021 20:15

I recently had a similar reaction after my Moderna booster (first 2 doses were AZ). Alternating fever and chills, aching all over. Only lasted 24 hours, then back to normal.
