Would you go to a gig tonight?

We have tickets for a gig for me (or DH) and two teens - very definitely a youth audience, standing/dancing type thing. (though whichever parent will loiter at the back and attempt not to be too embarrassing).

I'm double jabbed and got booster yesterday, DH had his 3 weeks ago, eldest teen single jabbed, younger teen getting their first this week.

Is is totally irresponsible to go?

Honestly OP I don't know! I am finding it hard to decide what to do and what not to. I suppose if I were you I would factor in the possibility of one or all of you being ill over Christmas and whether you have any vulnerable relatives.

I'd be hesitant - but only because I have important travel plans in the new year and don't want to risk having a positive PCR because I caught covid a few weeks before

I wouldn’t.
But it depends on your Christmas plans. If it’s only your household for Christmas then fine. But if you need to host others, or travel etc then you are risking that.

Student cases at our University are doubling every other day. It is making me very wary as we have Christmas plans.

We are going to the theatre tonight both triple jabbed 1 also has had covid last month so we are protected as much as we can be.

Ordinarily yes. But this close to Christmas no. I wouldn't want anyone to be sick during the Christmas period and would try to avoid that happening. Purely for the festivities not because I think people should be avoiding fun due to Covid.

I went to a gig a few nights ago. I wore my mask throughout (most people did) and I've been jabbed. They had the doors open at the venue and were checking everyone's vaccine status at the door.

It was bloody amazing to go and see a live band after 2 years.

If you aren’t banking on seeing any vulnerable family or friends between now and during Christmas go and fill your boots it will be good for you all to have some fun.
Although I would make sure you have some additional LFT’s in and I’d also be mindful that it takes two to three weeks for vaccines to offer protection.
Although I have a different view point as I am mid 50’s and am CEV so I wouldn’t be going anyway.

I would go. Last night I was in a packed restaurant full of people enjoying Christmas parties, dancing and singing, it was wonderful! But I am not vulnerable, am jabbed, have had Covid and survived and don't have any vulnerably family.

As I've said on other threads, live music used to be my life - I went to two or three gigs a week in the Beforetimes. It's one of the things that's been hardest to bear losing for me, I feel as if I've lost part of myself.

Other PPs have mentioned illness/isolation potentially upsetting Christmas plans - if this isn't a consideration for you, then go, and have a wonderful time. Even if it is a consideration I'd still be tempted to go, to be honest. Some experiences are just too important.

I should've been going to I see my one of my favourite bands tomorrow (they do a Christmas show every year). It's just another cherry on the shitcake of All This. Go, and have a dance for me!

Yes I would if you don’t you will only find that next year when the pro lockdowners get their way abs live music is stopped for ever you wished you had! You need to go to things while they are open!! The shut everything and lock everyone in their homes forever mob are gaining ground!

I went to one on Saturday and will be going to one tomorrow where the band have requested that the audience stay masked the whole time and provide proof of neg LFT or Vax on the door. Seems reasonable to me!

Ugh I don't know!!! It would depend on whether you have elderly or sick relatives to visit. One of my parents has just got over lung cancer and I'm meant to be visiting this week. It makes me second guess doing things.

I love live music and have been very fortunate this year to have been to lots. Go, op and enjoy.

DH caught his at a gig and gave it to me, and I have not been having an easy time of it, to say the least. Sad

We've always been adamant we'd try our best to live life as normal (while being sensible obvs) and given the choice again, I wouldn't stop him going. However, if it had happened now instead of a couple of weeks ago, we'd pretty much have lost Christmas.

No I'd not go to that. Crowded, young demographic, no masks, singing/shouting and moving around. That's just too high risk for me to enjoy being there at all.

Also, if you catch Covid there then that's your Christmas knackered.

Very much depends on your Christmas plans. I'm going to an event today where I'll be as careful as I can, but there's still a chance one (or more) of us could catch Covid. If we do, we'll all be isolating over Christmas, but that's fine for us as we've not got any particular plans for then.
