Hi,
Booked my booster tonight for early jan. The text confirmation “ your app for a dose of the coronavirus vaccine is confirmed....”
I presumed it would say booster. Should it and I’ve booked the wrong jab?

I get anxiety about this type of th8ng so would love to know what it should say. I thought I did it right!

I think the booster is just a third shot of the vaccine, so sounds right to me

NannyR · 13/12/2021 19:14

I've just checked my confirmation and it says booster dose. I wouldn't worry about it though, they will have your records and give you the appropriate dose, just check when you arrive.

Chocoqueen · 13/12/2021 19:17

Mine says the same OP, probably as I booked it before I should have... but they have my nhs number so should be ok.

wineandcheeseplease · 13/12/2021 19:17

I had my booster today and my text said dose

SantaHat · 13/12/2021 19:18

Your booster literally is a dose of the Coronavirus vaccine though?!

middleager · 13/12/2021 19:21

Mine says the same. I booked last week, before bookings opened up. Am late 40s.
I used my invitation email to book and the email goes on to say that if you are having a booster, you need to bring your referral letter/email.

MrsFrisbyMouse · 13/12/2021 19:24

They will check when you book in and give you the right one. The booster is actually a half dose. (Both for Moderna and Pfizer)

Sonex · 13/12/2021 19:24

The JCVI have advised that a full dose of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine or a half dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine should be offered as a booster dose irrespective of the vaccine used for the primary course.

When you go for your booster they will know what category you are in - first dose, second dose, booster aka third dose. It's on your records and you tell them.

Plus there are specific clinics for speciifc days for each category.

If you get the Pfizer vaccine as your booster, it will be identical in dose and composition to the one that anyone got or their first and second. Literally the same vials.

If you get Moderna, you will get a half dose.

So this really is a non-issue.

My email says the same, that I need a referral letter or my NHS/health/care ID.

Somehow, I think I can ignore that. Clearly that haven't updated the email for the last 8 months. 🙄

OP, mine says dose too, not booster. Don't worry, just go for it.

No it's a half dose of Moderna but a full dose of Pfizer. Weird but true!
Norugratsatall · 13/12/2021 19:41

Mine booked for tomorrow and email and text said this too. Am not worried, my records will confirm I've already had 2 doses.

MadeOfStarStuff · 13/12/2021 19:43

My reminder texts for my booster just refer to “a dose” of the vaccine

MadeOfStarStuff · 13/12/2021 19:43

(Had it last week and it was recorded as a booster)

DixonD · 13/12/2021 19:47

The 3rd dose referred to in the email is not a booster dose. This is a third dose for the very medically vulnerable people. They will have four doses including a booster.

The email states:

“your referral letter if you have booked a 3rd dose for people with a severely weakened immune system”

3rd DOSE, not booster. You need to bring a referral letter for a third dose, not booster. As I said, some people get four vaccinations (I know someone who has to have three and then a booster).

AutumnLeaves22 · 13/12/2021 19:57

A booster IS different to a 3rd dose. A 3rd dose is offered to those with a compromised immune system (I.e through recent chemotherapy whilst receiving dose 1 or 2). They will then be offered a booster jab after another 3 months. So some people will have 3 full doses plus a booster. That's why they ask for a referral letter. If you don't have one, you'll just get a booster.

Hopefulfor3rd · 13/12/2021 19:59

Thanks so much everyone. It would have been on mind and I’d have worried for ages over it.
Appreciate your time

My email said booster dose

JacquelineCarlyle · 13/12/2021 20:04

My text for the booster said the exact same as yours - 'your appointment for a dose of the Coronavirus vaccine ...' and I got the booster, so I'm sure yours is correct.

KatherineofGaunt · 13/12/2021 20:11

Oh. Mine says dose and to bring letter or health ID but I am neither vulnerable nor working in health. I just booked a booster, or so I thought. I guess I got the wrong email?

PAFMO · 13/12/2021 20:18

My confirmation says 3/3 doses have been administered.

Ugzbugz · 13/12/2021 20:19

Mine says dose and says if its third I will need a referral letter!

ChessieFL · 13/12/2021 20:27

Katherine I had my booster on Friday and that’s what my email said. The system knows which type you need so it will be fine.
